Apply Soapy Water to Stain

What happens here

Take one of the rags and fully immerse it into the bowl of warm soapy water. Wring out the rag thoroughly so it's damp but not dripping wet. Place the damp, soapy rag directly over the stain on the carpet stair tread or landing. Press down firmly on the rug. It is crucial *not* to scrub, as scrubbing can damage the carpet fibers, making them fuzzy and altering the carpet's texture.

Goal: Dip a rag into the soapy water, wring out excess, and gently press it onto the carpet stain without scrubbing.
