How we band larger bulls on the Ranch...Bloodless Calicrate bander technique

What happens here

After a successful banding, the calf will typically exhibit low stress and return to normal activity, such as eating and nursing, within hours. This low-stress approach is beneficial compared to surgical castration, which can result in stiffness and soreness for multiple days. Banding allows the calf to use its natural testosterone for growth up until the procedure, making it suitable for delayed castration post-weaning. However, be aware that selling older, banded calves with a 'staggy' appearance at a sale barn might result in price deductions if not finished privately.

Goal: Understand the recovery and benefits of bloodless castration.
