Before applying any stain, thoroughly mask and protect all adjacent surfaces from overspray. Use the 3M hand masker with 1.5-inch tape to mask at least two rows of masking paper around the stucco house where the fence dead-ends. If you are inexperienced with spraying, use at least three rows of masking tape to provide extra protection against overspray. Additionally, place cardboard shields along the ground, especially over any rocks, to minimize overspray on these surfaces. Use additional cardboard shields to protect areas above the fence, such as gutters or adjacent structures, from airborne overspray.

Goal: Prevent overspray on surrounding surfaces and the ground.
