How to Rebuild a Chainsaw Engine

What happens here

With the external components removed, carefully detach the cylinder head from the engine block. The cylinder is held in place by four bolts. Use a T27 bit and a cordless drill to remove these bolts. Note that the piston is already damaged and welded to the old cylinder wall, which is why a new cylinder and piston kit is required. Also, carefully detach any remaining electronic components connected to the cylinder assembly. Once the cylinder is fully detached, inspect the piston rod, crank, and bearings for any damage. In this case, the bearings and crank appear to be in good condition.

Goal: Detach the cylinder head and inspect the engine's internal components.
