Shut Off Water and Drain Line

What happens here

Before any plumbing work, locate and turn off the main water supply to the house. This is typically done at the main shut-off valve, often found near the water meter or where the main water line enters the house. Once the main water is off, return to the work area. Open the existing compression angle stop valve by turning its handle counter-clockwise to drain any residual water from the line. This prevents water from spilling during pipe cutting.

Goal: Safely isolate and drain the water line to be worked on.
