How To Fix Peeling Paint.

co-ainer. In this video, we got a door jam right here that's got some peeling on this side of it and down low. And we're going to be sanding it and then priming it with the Mad Dog primer. This is Durabil primer and it's great for smoothing out the edges that are going to be left behind when we begin sanding this door jamb. So, there's this peeling paint. We're going to be sanding that. We're going to have some bare wood and then some edges on this. We want to smooth it out. And this is an excellent product to use and we're going to be using that and we're going to show you this process. So, stay tuned for this video. So, we're going to begin the process of prepping this door jamb right here. I've got a paint eater right here to begin sanding this peeling paint and sanding this door jamb. Also got myself a 5 in1 tool right here to do any scraping of any loose paint. And got our extension cord hooked up to this thing. We're going to sand this thing and then we're going to brush our primer on it. Let it dry and then we'll be painting it later on in the week when we paint this house and paint the door jamb. So, here I go with prepping it with my paint eater right now. This is a Wagner paint. I love this. Love these things. These things are excellent for sanding stuff like this. It It takes off the paint really fast. The the disc itself doesn't clog with paint, but sands really well. So, here I go with this prepping process. We're going to start this process off by just removing the door weather strips, which come out really easily. Just using my painters 5in-1 tool. Now, I can see some of this peeling paint right here. It's coming off. We'll begin sanding it now with our paint eater. Going to wear some eye protection when you're doing your sanding. [Music] So, I got the door jam. It's all sanded now. We do got some edges right here that need to be reccocked. So, we're going to reccock this door jamb, let it dry, and then we're going to take our Mad Dog Dura um build primer, and we're going to reprime this door jam. We've got some barewood right here, and then some edges on the paint and stuff where it didn't all come off. And this is just going to help smooth out those edges and make this door jam look a lot better than what it looks right now. So now I got this thing all sanded. It's all cocked. It's ready to be primed. I'm just going to open up my primer and just brush a nice good thick coat on this thing. And then we're going to be letting that dry and coming back and painting this house. One quick note when it comes to using this primer when you top coat it. You only want to use a satin or semi- gloss paint. You don't want to use a flat paint because it'll crack cuz this primer is extremely flexible and it moves a lot and a flat paint will crack on it within a few days. So we we paint all of our exteriors with satin so it's not going to be issue. [Music] Heat up [Music] here. So, there you have it. How to prep a peeling painted surface.
