Graco Ultra Handheld Paint Sprayer Test & Review

This is Chris, the Idaho painter. In this video, we're going to talk about the Graco Ultra handheld sprayer. And this is the battery operated version right here. This thing uses a DeWalt lithium ion battery right here. And this is a 20 volt battery. It comes with two of these. This is a really cool device right here. It's a airless sprayer. I got I got a video. I've just tested one of these things out. It's the corded model, the Graa Ultra handheld corded model. So, if you want to win one of those corded models, go check out my giveaway page at the end of this video. But right now, we're going to be talking about the battery operated one. And the corded one had a cord that you had to drag around, which was a little bit inconvenient. And now this one here with this battery. This is amazing. I absolutely love this thing. You can just freely climb up a ladder without dragging a a a cord or you can just go from room to room or wherever your project is and you don't have to drag around an extension cord or have another tool. These things right here, if you haven't seen my video, this is an air sprayer. It's a handheld air to sprayer and it's operates very easily and simply. All you got to do is load up your product. It has a prime and spray switch right here. And it's got a dial right here that adjusts the speed or the pressure coming out of the thing. So, it's very simple. It does have on the battery pack an uh you push a button right here and there's a little LED right light right there that'll tell you how much charge you got on the battery. But all you do, I'm just going to show you how easy it is to load this thing up. You just unscrew this. This is where your paint goes. And it has these right here. This is a liner right here. It's just a soft plastic liner. And your product goes inside this liner right here. I got some food coloring and some water right here. I got to just use water and not paint because I'm inside my studio right here. I don't want to spray paint up there. Got just some food coloring. It just goes in that cup. Just going to load this thing up. And all you do to operate this thing is once it's loaded up, it has a little sight thing right here that you fill it up. You're going to squeeze this thing. I got some water in it from using it just a minute ago. So, I'm going to squeeze it. And as soon as that little sight cup fills up with your paint or your liquid, in this case, it's just water. Just filling it up. And now, once it's filled, you just close this lid, lock it. Now, it's airtight. Now, all you got to do is just stick it to prime. Hold it for a second at high speed, flip it to spray. Now, it's ready to go. Now, I'm going to just dial it down to my lowest speed. And whenever you're spraying, you want to start at your lowest speed or pressure right there and adjust it accordingly to whatever you're spraying to get the finish that you want. It's that easy to use. It comes with a rack guard with an with an FFLP tip. These things run at low pressures unlike your typical airless unit. So, it has to use the LFLP tips. And you can see it's a Graco the Rack X tips. All the tips are going um converting over to the FLP tips. So, that's all you'll be able to get anymore here fairly soon. My local paint store doesn't even carry the regular RAX ones. But that's it. It's very simple, easy to use, and it's an excellent unit. It's not very heavy. It's lightweight. You can just carry it around. This thing is great for using on small projects. I can see using it on furniture. Uh if you got a a door to spray, you can use it to spray a door. If you've got to climb up high up on a ladder just to spray something like a vent, you don't want to use it for large projects like an entire house or entire fence cuz you're just going to have to keep filling this cup up just over and over and over again, which is pretty impractical versus just using a regular airless sprayer. But it's very simple to use and it's uh the cost of it is a very reasonable cost. But this thing, unlike the previous versions of these types of handheld Eric sprayers, I got sent this thing. I was pretty excited about it cuz it's made very very well. They used to be made they didn't they just look cheap and they felt cheap and they just were cheap sprayers. This one right here made by Graco that just came out brand new. This thing is excellent. It's made with industrial plastic and it's just very very high quality. When I got sent this thing, they weren't even available for sale yet, but now they're for sale. It's excellent. We're going to keep one, the battery operated ones in our van. They come with two lithium ion batteries. They come with a really nice carrying case that you can put them in. It comes with some of the extra liners and it's just a great little unit to have. The finish of it, I've been spraying some things and the finish is just like an airless sprayer. Comes out really good. I'm going to I've got this board I've been messing around with. I don't know if you can see it, but I'm going to just put it about a medium speed. Hope you can see that. And one of the concerns about them before is the pulsating effect and the striping that it left. With this dow, you can just set it up. I've been using it and using them and testing them and at high speeds or above the number five, midway up, it completely eliminates that striping, gives you a good a nice quality airless finish. So, the finish is just like an air um airless sprayer. It's an excellent unit. I have been getting asked a lot of questions uh in my comments of my last video I did on my corded model. What would I prefer? This or the tight the Titan flex spray? There's a big difference between the two of them. The Titan Flex Spray is an HBLP sprayer. The Graco Ultra handheld is an airless sprayer. And what's the what is the difference between those two? An airless sprayer, you don't have to thin out your products. an HVLP sprayer from my experience of using the Titan flex spray. Every single product we had to thin out before uh using it and the the Flex Spray gave a little bit finer finish than the airless sprayer. And so there's like a trade-off. Do you want a finer finish and have to thin out your products or do you want a a unit that you never have to thin out your products? You just pour your paints right on there and they're ready to go. So there's a big difference between the two of them. That's a major difference. If I had to pick between either one of them, I think I'd like to have the convenience of never having to thin my product. So, I'd probably choose a Graco Ultra handheld, but I have both of them.
