What happens here

Using a small knife (e.g., 3-inch or 4-inch taping knife), apply the mixed hot mud onto the new corner metal. Work the mud thoroughly into the pre-drilled holes of the metal bead to ensure a strong mechanical bond. Once applied, use a wider 6-inch taping knife to smooth out the compound, creating an even surface that blends seamlessly with the existing drywall. Build up a little more hot mud at the transition point where the new metal meets the old to ensure a seamless repair and eliminate any noticeable edges.
