How To Clean A Paint Roller & Paint Brush Fast. DIY Hacks Cleaning a Paint Brush. painting tips

What happens here

To clean the paint brush, first wet the brush bristles with a small amount of thinner from the bucket. Hold the wire brush against the paint brush bristles, using the side of the bucket for support, and scrub in a downward motion. Flip the paint brush over and repeat the scrubbing action on all sides and the flat part of the bristles, working to remove any dried oil-based paint from the bristles and the ferrule (the metal band). Dip the brush in the thinner and repeat the scrubbing, then pat the brush repeatedly against the bottom of the bucket to force cleaner thinner up into the ferrule and flush out embedded paint. Repeat this process, changing the thinner in the bucket as it becomes heavily laden with paint, until the thinner runs clear.

Goal: Remove all oil-based paint from the brush bristles and ferrule.

tool on. Okay, now I'm going to show you how we go about cleaning the brush. And I'm done painting with my brush. It's got paint all over it. Got my wire bristle brush. And I'm going to begin cleaning it in my bucket. And I got my bucket about a quarter full of water. Just going to dip my wire brush in there. Get my paintbrush wet. And then I'm going to use the bucket and support my brush on the side of the bucket right here. And then just begin scrubbing in a downward motion. Stroking it downward just like this. Scrubbing those bristles. Just going to flip my brush over through the sides, the flat part. And what you're doing is getting any type of dried paint off the bristles. And just keep working that dried paint off and the paint off the fereral. And then just going to take my water, switch it down in my water, and get that excess paint off. I'm going to dump my water out. Put some more clean water in it. Get it about quarter full. And then begin just patting your brush in the bottom like this. And you're working the paint out of the inside of the fereral of the brush. Just keep patting it on the bottom. Dump out your water. You want to put some fresh water in. You're going to do this about four times. And then you just keep patting. Eventually when you pat it on the bottom, you won't see any more cloudy or painty water. You'll just see clean water. Just keep patting it. Going to put some more water in here. And it's starting to get pretty clean. I'm going to take my wire brush one more time. You can see just a little bit of dry paint still on there. Just going to work it off. And no, this bristle wire bristle brush won't hurt your paintbrush.
