How To Remove A Door Hinge Pin. Oiling a Door Hinge. Removing Door Hinges

This is Chris, the Idaho painter. I'm going to show you how to remove a front door just by removing the hinge pins. If you got to remove your front door for any reason to move furniture in or to take the door off to paint it or restain it, removing the hinge pins is the simplest way to do it. That way you don't have to unscrew the hinge or unscrew the hinges from the door jamb or the door. And this simple little tool, the hinge pin removal tool by spring tool is a way to do that. And on the bottom right here, this is the top of the hinge pin right here. On the bottom there's a hole and you use this hinge pin tool to stick in that hole and just strike the hinge pin so it rises so you can actually pull it out with your hands. The tool is just a simple little tool. You're it's got a spring. Pull it back and it just hammers that hinge pin up. And I'm going to show you how to do that right now. You're just going to stick it in here in that hole. Hammer it up and it raises that hinge pin up enough so you can grab it and actually just pull it out. And you got to be careful when you pull those hinge pins out. the door is going to fall over or fall away. So, you got to be careful to remove them. Uh remove the hinge pins, the last ones, while you're holding the actual door. So, just going to take it in here, strike my hinge pins. The hinge pin just comes right out just like that. And this is the metal one. Now, I got two more I've got to remove. And then that door is actually just going to come right off. And we'll show you how to remove the rest of them. I'm just going to remove the bottom one now. and we'll show you that. So, I've got this bottom one removed now. Okay, now I've got the two hinge pins removed on the middle one and the bottom one. I'm going to remove this last one. Got my door closed. Got to be careful cuz the door could fall away. It's actually closed and last, so it's not going to fall away. If the door's open when you're removing these hinge pins, it's going to actually fall um over or fall to the side. So, you got to be really careful. I just typically do it while the door is closed. So, it's latched so it's not going to fall towards me cuz it's actually latched. But just going to strike this hinge pin right here to remove this last one. Just like that. Now, it's removed and it's tilted a little bit, but it's not going to fall over cuz it's still the door is still closed.
