How to Can Tomatoes! Easy, fun...Wholesome and Simple!
What happens here
Once the pressure canner has completely cooled and depressurized, carefully open the lid. Remove the hot jars using canning tongs and place them on a towel on the counter to cool fully. After about three days, check the seals of your jars by removing the screw bands and pressing on the center of the flat lid. A properly sealed lid will be concave and will not make a popping sound or move when pressed. Re-tighten the screw bands and store the sealed jars in a cool, dry, dark place. If a jar did not seal, place it in the refrigerator and consume the contents immediately.
Goal: Ensure jars are properly sealed and ready for storage
