(11,172 characters)usually there's not enough especially with this concrete pipe I bet there's not be able to and she started getting sketchy we hit storm sewer so this wasn't marked and I thought it was a curb [Music] [Applause] let's go [Music] Alex shattered the door no oh the door I'm not making that phone [Music] [Applause] [Music] call all right guys welcome to the show my name is Stan genetic I'm the dirt monkey and every job seems to hold an adventure of some way shape or form and today is no exception to the rule we're back at the school and we have a couple close calls one of them we captur directly on camera and the other one while the cameras were off and we run into some things that we weren't expecting but without wasting any more time and let's not get ahead of the story let's turn this over to Zach out on the job site and see what uh the Advent what what today's adventure brings all right good morning everyone hope the camera holds out again doesn't like to wake up right away in the morning for some reason and but today we on three all these trees right here are coming down today they the guy uh tree guys were just here they're going to go deal with a tree that down over that way on the other side of the school and then they're going to come back and start taking out these trees so stick around for that I'm going to grease up the ASV this morning and yeah and then we're uh going to get into it give me now will be a long shortly it's just me and Sam out here right now OS so yeah that's what we got for right now D this going give me bro oh they're clipping hell yeah well they land with all those branches but there a't very many branches job site safety is a Monumental thing and one of the things I found to be the most effective way to keep my guys safe is to put them into twom man teams second set of eyeballs a second opinion uh a different perspective always seems to go a long way in helping keep my guys safe and then also go up there and get a video of that guy [Music] too oh you want me to push it over yeah okay I'll see if I can reach it I just uh back what's that a back if it just if it comes this way I'll TI It Down basically huh [Music] all right so we got the tree guys here we for uh Jerry Migel Miguel and JJ JJ getting your trees down getting our site all cleaned up for us it's trying to get these trees out of the way and you're an avid subscriber of us and you work with Bert too yep yep work with Bert Holland snow all you know what we do yep I've seen lots of what you guys do retaining walls and different Landscaping projects and you guys do an awesome job so a little bit of stuff down the wall down here so that way when the trees come down you're not going to hopefully damage the wall which is actually used as a loader not just a snow Pusher so when you're taking underground you have to locate utilities but there's not just one number that you have to call like in Minnesota it's 811 or go for State one call or whatever you what have you but in your area it's going to be something different but those numbers only Mark Public Utilities when you're working on a big job site you also have to mark private utilities and let's talk about the difference public utilities are what come off from the public infrastructure into the site that's all they have to mark but once you're in the site and you're working there could be a spiderweb of utilities all over and that's where you need a private utility locator but here's what you don't do don't blindly trust that they're accurate don't blindly trust that everything they show you is going to be for your is going to be right because a lot of times they're not and today you're going to see that exactly happen so you have to always go move forward with a certain C amount of skepticism and a certain amount of caution because even though you may know where the line is they may be off by 1 2 3 ft or they may not have marked something at all and as a contractor you're going to see all of it and today you're going to see one of those exact scenarios happen here in just a little bit that dust the bark him on [Music] the tree guys find themselves in a little bit of a bind and the boys rush in to give a hand now before you judge just ask yourself are you perfect let he who is without sin cast the first [Music] stone oh [Music] tree let's grab it with the m and she started getting sketchy got the loader hooked to it with a chain pull [Music] wow this s the loader could take a blast a little room oh we blow out the door yeah should have shut that before didn't think anything of it it's always the last tree damn it that's probably an expensive door there oh yeah did it hurt anything yeah it shattered the door no yeah the side door didn't even think to close it oh the door we lost the door but the tree guys are safe and my team is safe and nobody was hurt that's all that matters probably an expensive door right there godamn it oh yeah the window on the cab uh the other one was freaking $400 that's not bad if it's $400 that's that's no big deal you right the last tree came down and we had a casualty yeah we were in a rush tree was about to fall back the other way grabbed chains just hooked us to loader and pulled and forgot the side window was open and tree came down Square on top of it now it's just clean up and back to wall building well it was a emergency situation it was going towards the playground the guys were trying to push it we had the wind coming this way and this way right at us so we hooked up some chains real quick with the Kabota the one machine I didn't want to use we're going to use this but the one machine we can actually B to lose hooked up the hooked up the chains two sections of chain and just about a 2T two short a foot and a half and the very top of the tree came down and clipped the there was an open window and it just clipped that window and shattered it 2500 bucks $2,500 that we're going to ask $2,500 purchase we saved the playground and those guys and the guys standing behind it when the wind picked up yep yeah that wasn't a lot of thinking in that situation it was just get it down window can be fixed at least people can't be replaced yeah but still we could have broke a dirt monkey machine in Stand yeah yeah not not all these other trees there was all these other trees on the hill and it's the last the last tree I would have rather see my truck get a window broken than that machine get a window I didn't want to have anything happen to that machine that was just a that thing's quicker than sitting under there with the Deo at the time CU it was I don't even think the Deo would have got over there in time before it fell over no I was starting to blow on those guys and they were all back there holding it up I should have shut the window before and then that tree probably would have just grazed right down yeah it would have missed it it's it's just cuz it was on that back angle and it was sticking out I didn't think the window was open I just jumped in and went yeah you should have done with your truck then you could have got in a whole new box I know that's not how that works I would have been dealing with an even more Den box this Branch it was that Branch right there look at that little bit right here it just barely it wasn't much that touched it man here you go the one machine right here I'm not making that phone call [Music] [Applause] and they got all the trees over here so got a pile of stuff right here here I got an awesome team I'm just going to tell you right now I have an awesome team what the guys are talking about is that's my personal K cabota I reserve it for snow plowing I'm trying to keep it in as good a shape as possible so I can get the most years out of it for snow plowing as possible and I don't usually let it go out on job sites like this that's why they feel so bad but the fact that they feel so bad tells me they care that's all they want out of a team I just want guys that care care about the equipment care about each other care about their work care about how the job site goes you can't buy that you can't buy that you got to find it you got to Foster it you got to grow it in your team I got a great [Music] team put in 1792 6 1792 the future but all right we were digging out for our next chunk of wall here and we hit storm sewer not marked because it was a private line and he called out private lines and I bet the site manager didn't even know about this line here otherwise he probably would have requested uh drain water as well too on top of just electrical you know but he didn't so this wasn't marked and I thought it was a curb or just Concrete in the hillside which you find a lot the only way to do anything is to bring our wall and step it over there probably enough meat on the sidewalk there to put Rock right on top of that this bit started coming up pretty quick over here yeah you can see there's nothing else to do here if we get if we get it up to here and then rock it step it up we got to bridge it it's been years since 1992 that mother that thing ain't moving you know no it ain't going nowhere good thing you didn't crack it in half be because I was cuz then it's tearing all this out putting a new new section in yeah because you can't well lucky we would have broke it right by a hub so they could have gone there to wherever their next splice was or they would have had to redo it all the way till where it ends usually there's not enough especially with this concrete pipe I bet there's not much room to be able to slide a piece on and then I think that tree came down and smashed this thing and left those scratch marks me too yeah broke the window pours guys if you dig in the dirt please mark your utilities and respect the time frame they required to locate those things now in this case this was a private line and it was missed it didn't turn out to be a very big deal but on a pass job we did we had a blind that was missed and when we hit it it was a high voltage line and when we hit that line I don't know how we survived this the line came up out of the ground and just started to spark like this it was going back and forth that's how much power was going through that and you're in an metal excavator if that would have hit that excavator that would have went all the way through the Cavin that excavator blew that up but more importantly it could have hurt somebody just be safe and Mark your utilities and give them the time they require and then always move ahead with a certain amount of skepticism and caution please and thank you [Music] all right we kind of getting kind of rained out for the day we're wrapping up here cuz we got heavy storms coming in and then more rain tonight and then maybe I think tomorrow it's just going to be a wash completely cuz it's just bust of rain but we' got everything in and got a few more lifts on another course couple courses on got it all filled up backed up packed up on the back side here just kind of cleaning up everything getting everything wrapped up for the night we'll come back to this project but in the mean time guys God bless and go get them
