How a plumber caulks a toilet
What happens here
Take the tube of clear siliconized plumber's caulk and apply a continuous, even bead around the base of the toilet. Start from one side, go across the front, and continue to the other side. Crucially, stop applying caulk at the corners of the back of the toilet, leaving the entire back section uncaulked. This 'discovery before damage' method allows any potential leaks from the toilet's internal wax ring to be visible on the floor, preventing hidden water damage to the subfloor or surrounding areas.
Goal: Apply a fresh bead of clear siliconized plumber's caulk around the front and sides of the toilet base, intentionally leaving the back uncaulked for leak detection.
