What happens here
This video details the process of tuning up a hover mower that has been unused for several years, primarily by draining old fuel, cleaning the magneto for proper spark, and then demonstrating its capabilities and limitations on various terrains, including flat grass, uneven ground, slopes, and dense, wet vegetation near a lake.

(9,020 characters)all right it's fly more time except the fly more hasn't been ran in a few years what are you thinking frankie i need you to stand on that corner yeah okay ready we got we got fuel yeah oh there's old gas i'm gonna see if it starts before i drain it oh i smell that over i smell that old gas cooking yeah that's not gas it's standing on there that's ethanol so we'll take this clip off right here so we're gonna drain this fuel take this clip off right here drain the fuel put fresh fuel in it let's see what that does one of these blue crappy containers people drop off at my house for no reason i mean it's a kerosene container but basically it's been turned into kerosene by now anyway so nothing else we'll pull the plug and we'll throw a little gas right down the cylinder and still start and fire it right up so seven years yeah so seven years she hasn't ran yeah okay there she is okay yeah i don't think we're gonna get much more of that corn fuel out of there that's pure ethanol by now no dude these are like these blades are so tiny they're these little tiny and of the hole if these guys as i'm looking you see this whole spindle down here creates the air vacuum which makes it lift off the ground i okay we've got the three inch skirt on so you to adjust deck height on these i think you have a skirt that's what this is not much but that's gas and that's more than that hold so that'll be a fill twice i mean everybody can pour gas without spilling every guy no baby guys that we don't need directions so we're not getting any spark so we pulled off the front cover and we're gonna sand this up in case there's any corrosion on it but it doesn't really look that bad you can see right where it was sitting right there because you see how everything else is the same color except for this one particular spot has those two rust spots right so that could just be why it's not getting a full connection as every revolutionary the brake connection right there so that might be a cause or it might be the whole deal [Music] dialed in all right now let's take it in some areas where only a fly mower can go so that's one of the challenges with a fly mower since it has no wheels you have to add wheels to make it move across the site you can see right through right through to the water so you'll be solid ground here and then you're down you know 18 inches right next to it i don't think it's going to fly mow over something like that so let's find a better testing ground i just want to see how much tall grass it can cut because i'd like to try to take it across and mow shangri-la douche well the shoreline there i just don't know if it's going to have enough power to motion anger a lot douche there's shangri-la just coming along getting her getting an update let's see we got some areas over here we could test out maybe something that's not quite so up and down yeah now i got to start it again or go over there because the wheels are way over there go over there and get the wheels so anytime that you have a curb or something edging or something you're going over you may not fly [Music] she keeps wanting to grab back here so this is where you adjust the height of the skirt right along here and what's happening i'm noticing is she'll cover as long as we got really good flat ground but as soon as we hit a divot or instead of contouring with the ground because it just doesn't fly more over the top of that right let's just see how she does right all right so there's people that you know this may be good for them i don't know that we're we're trying to find out what its limitations are and where it excels at problem is i could have done this area with a push more a heck of a lot easier yeah i don't think she's meant to really go backwards a long ways because with being able to basically float and spin well you know what before you put your mouth there why don't you give it a shot because you're gonna find i think he's gonna can't tell it's a warm day or nothing all right uh what he's gonna find is i think it's a lot easier to run now you're not cutting anything you're just going over one i think it's it has its purpose but you also have to remember you're only cutting with that much of a blade on there too i know that but is it really doing anything that a regular mower couldn't do no not not yet let's pop that skirt off let's pop that skirt off and see if that affects performance we should be able to just take loosen that up and take this skirt right off so i don't know how this is what this skirt's going to do if this i think this skirt lowers the cutting head cutting deck height cutting deck height saying that three times fast cutting deck height couldn't get yeah exactly yeah that ain't happening oh peter parker picked a pack of pickled peppers peter parker did peter parker are you the spider-man yeah yeah i'm spider-man and peter parker picked a peck of [Applause] now that doesn't seem much easier to me we know it's not a tall grass bowler or an uneven ground mower but i think if you've got wet ground you know when you can when the ground is like a almost like a trampoline i'm only a buck 70 and i'm bouncing the ground so this is the perfect spot let's see how she does in here the fly mower is meant for crap like this right i mean i think that's what it's designed for it's designed for extreme hillsides like when you're on like a slope like this you can sit and hover with it you're not it's not getting pulled pulling you down the hill that's what at least what frankie was saying and for wet areas too i don't know that seemed like a lot of work for what we got done yeah brush mower or a speed whacker that you can push before i do more i think yeah i think my uh that one dr thing that i got a little walk behind brush mower would maybe be a better option but flying of everything everywhere yes but but you know it's got a nice good honda engine on it after seven years she fired up had to do a little bit of work to her but pull a few things apart anything else right this one is designed to put no pressure on to the ground no right no so there's so it lifts off the ground to actually do what it's doing so it's using the the force of the blades to create a cushion of air which then lifts the mower off from the ground yeah and then the blades cut but the problem is as it's spinning it's creating a cushion of air just like a hovercraft right yeah but it's pushing the grass down yeah so as it's pushing the grass down to lift the mowers up how are those blades catching then the grass has to be pushed down and be brought up to be cut i think you can only go through like a certain height of grass you're not going to go through thick stuff like this very efficient no thin stuff like over here and stuff once you get it cut with something else i think that's a great maintenance mower just to come in and do it do what it has to do yeah maintenance and whatnot but going through brush you find something else well yeah cause it's just got let's go check them blades out just in case you want to flip that back up i want to show these guys don't don't fire it up so the blades on this are actually in really good shape because we never use this mower they're brand new one two and three this is all you're cutting with that's it this is the fan right here and then as this spins it lifts up the whole shroud and it does go a lot better without the extra shroud on it it just seems to float better i think in tallgrass it fails in wet areas as long as it's flat but on a hill for maintenance i don't think i've ran an easier more it's kind of fun isn't it it is it's pretty easy even for me and i'm pretty weak at the best of times you don't actually look that weak zach no i'm not you're like 30 year old man in the prime of his life i don't think you're weak well not as both as alex well the boy runs 20 miles before going to work in the morning um i think we've got it i think we know that this is this would be a good hill mower yeah a great mower for hills and maybe like if like you got like a like a edge of a pond you want to really get up next to or a steep pond or something yeah you got to get right to it yeah and then you and you know something with wheels would get stuck or you don't want to you can't have wheels you can't have rods you want to weed whack it to a certain height right well right guys i think that's our video yeah i think we've i think this is our flymo video hope you guys enjoyed it it was a little bit of a challenge to get her to run but you know what it's a honda engine it only sat for seven years so 47 only yeah of course it'll fire right back up after you pull it apart a little bit and do some work to it but hey we had fun hope you guys had fun and if you guys do me a favor hit that like button hit that thumbs up and god bless and go get em guys hope you just make it awesome any closing remarks zach play monopoly it'll make you smile and make you scratch your head at the same time so lodge [Music]
