What happens here
This video details a backyard excavation and demolition project involving two skid-steer loaders equipped with various attachments. The project focuses on removing substantial amounts of dirt, concrete, and organic debris from a residential property, maneuvering the machinery through a narrow access path, and handling material transport with a dump truck. The process involves careful excavation, material separation, and the use of specialized tools like a grapple attachment for breaking and moving concrete.

(14,388 characters)that's not a good sign when it doesn't wiggle so yesterday blaine kicked alex off from his job site but probably not for the reasons that you would think alex busted up his shoulder pretty bad basically he over exerted himself and went to the doctor and the doctor said you gotta quit using your shoulder you're gonna make the problem worse well we had alex on a big retaining wall project that we're working on and told them you know what just run equipment and do you think the kid could just do what he was told and run equipment no he's down in the trenches he's trying to lift block and these are 83 pound blocks so he's got one arm that he can can't even pick his nose with and the other arm he's trying to lift blocks with and blaine's like no man if you can't you know work within certain boundaries you're just going to hurt yourself out here on this job site and you need to you need to go so alex is coming to my site where he's going to be forced to run a skid loader so since he's coming out to my site we're calling in reinforcements and getting a second skid loader i wanted to bring the 185 out but alex went and grabbed the kitty cat it's one of his favorites he loves that machine so hopefully with alex out helping we'll be able to get a lot done let's get on it is it really negative 40 out because according to the weather it's supposed to be 97 today i don't remember negative 40 being in the forecast i should go grab my coat [Music] hey good news it's warming up now it's only negative 33 degrees sweet that'll make it a lot nicer to work today in a t-shirt what have you that's not something you see every day that's a gmc denali pulling that dump trailer any of you guys use your fancier work trucks or fancier trucks for work like that so part of our delay on this project is just pepping the dirt in we've got to come from this road down this path through this narrow gate under the trees through the backyard and up and into the job site we've still got a lot of picking to do which means i need to be sorting and separating materials out on the underneath the project out on the project and then um it's going to be pretty easy for us to get swamped with dirt so we pulled the second machine in and that also gives us more time to spend compacting dirt as well i think it's his right arm yeah it's alex's right i heard you got kicked off the job yesterday [Laughter] were you just throwing a little too much block and trying to get in there too much or what happened that's what was going on yeah i just grabbed the shovel and i just couldn't just stand there and you know be that guy to point the finger i just had to get in there and blame to get you got to get out of here you got to go you can't you can't do it you can't keep doing it all right well yeah we can't pull the bottom foot in because the wall will collapse but these i don't want to see these white ones here so i'm going to try to just snap off the tops because they're about four feet deep and i'm a little worried that if we try to take them all out it's going to leave a cavity and soft spots down the road for the wall so if we pop that out then the soil will get soft and it'll be fine now but in a few years they could have issues i got that stuck yesterday yeah i said i heard that those boys over there came and gave you a hand yeah the neighbors saved my butt which is cool yeah that is really cool yeah i know a lot of guys like you you know yeah you know what's wrong with guys that would do that you know because they would i mean i i know when i first got into um social media there were guys coming out oh you run his junk all your stuff is rattle can crap right and i'm like what what do you run they're like well we're big on instagram this one dude said it and i'm like okay and so i went to his instagram post because i mean i didn't know what big on instagram was but he had like five six thousand followers on there which is you know great for him yeah but then he'd have posts up oh look at that guy stuck down in the bottom maybe i should jump in and show them how to run but i'm not gonna it's like when i saw that i'm like oh my god that's exactly the kind of person i don't wanna be i don't wanna be that guy that's that douchebag to everybody else if that dude needs a hand i'm gonna go give him a ham let's have some dirt off and then we'll hop into the kubota a little later on and keep rolling paycheck available what do we got a radio i don't even know this had a radio all right so you guys are gonna ask right now well why are you using the street in the first place well that's a great question i don't know if your voice actually sounds like that but mine when i'm imitating people i don't know does this is actually the school's property and this is williams pipeline and the fact that either of them are allowing us to actually use this is unheard of problem is there's going to be so many utilities right here so many utilities all throughout here that for us to dump over here to safely pick up and scoop off from here i don't feel comfortable doing i'd rather dump it in the street and quickly get it off from the street and johnny's gonna be able to keep up with us hi johnny um that's that uh johnny's a good guy him and i don't see eye to eye all the time doesn't mean i don't like the problem is johnny's gonna get ahead of us and for me to have dirt in and also be able to compact it it's gonna be tight all right guys we're going to go into compaction mode and i just want to take you with me because what we do is we lift the bucket all the way up this is one of the few times we travel with the bucket in the air right not it's not typically something we do but once we get things pretty secure the reason we lift it all the way up is so we can get all the way to the ends of the we pool go back and forth and we look for deflection in the material so i'm looking i'm i'm feeling how well this how the machine is holding up but i'm also looking for how's my soil do it am i getting any any spots that feel like a water bag as long as i i'm not then i'm good can you see all that that's still gotta come out i gotta use the picker that's why we pulled the second skid loader in because i gotta go i gotta get down in here and start grabbing those trunks out right there i've got all this weight on the front of the machine and that just see how i can get real tight up in there you guys ah okay that hurts when it hits your ankle right away but that ass actually happens it's part of the what can happen if i don't have my bucket curled the right way and imagine if that was a four foot concrete chunk right that's why we use when we it can go south pretty fast luckily it was just a little bit of dirt right but that was worse i'd be not picking out pine cones and ass concrete chunks i may be picking out chunks of my shin if that was a big piece of uh concrete landing in my lap gotta hook up the monkey claw next so i can pick through that [Music] concrete down there so the monkey claw just for those of you aren't familiar runs off auxiliary hydraulics standard flow is fine each one of these controls the the actual claws so as i activate it in the machine this turns into a concrete crunching tyrannosaurus rex that is very hungry for fuel right now so let's go top it off oh you found that thing too they got some kind of a strainer in there and every time you go to fuel up it just pours right back down on you it's the it's a freaking goofiest i don't know if that's a kubota thing that strainer or i did that that did that to me twice already oh now you're covered in diesel oh you get to have that enjoyable smell all day long now so i'm gonna start picking okay i'm gonna try to get all the so you can just half and i can pack so what do you want me to do spread it out at the bottom and then you'll just pack it i'll be down there i think you should just dump it at the top dump it on the top we can just push it down yeah that way we're not running into each other i don't know if you guys can see that but we've got thumb controls and then we got a button which completely activates them which doesn't work so good for something like this we want to just be able to use it like an extension of our hand so to speak but we got to go pick a lot of crap out of the dirt and johnny just showed up with another mode [Music] that didn't sound right just the titles man just the tip baby just the tip johnny brought another little holy crap he's gonna swamp us that is the actual footing that's down at the bottom of the side rails so that footing is down two three four feet not two three four four about four feet or whatever the distance of those side rails are underneath here and so if we took this footing out right through here four feet down there would be nothing supporting this wall because that's how thick that is back there and behind there but it's not that high up it's down deeper it's down at that depth so you can see why we've got to leave that now i'm going to try to grab a little bit more but i don't want to undermine this patio so i got to be pretty careful right in here that's a whole lot of love right there look at that let's get that all right let's get some of this crap back [Music] oh that's maxed out power wise i can't even lift up feels like there's something on top of the stuff i'm trying to pull out [Music] thank you little things like that tear up tracks two hundred dollar question let's say two hundred dollars because if i get it right we save 200 and if i get it wrong it could cost us that much if i get too much dirt then we gotta haul it out load it up haul it out a lot of extra work a lot of extra time but if we need it and we're waiting then we're wasting two so you got gotta get this call right we are going to say no we're gonna let let him come back empty i'm gonna take a few of these trees out because we want the grade to go down this way so come straight this way and right down the property line there okay so i'm gonna probably pop half of these out i'll stop at that big one because i think that's enough of a slope down let's crunch crunch mark the guy that saved my butt yesterday came over and we were chit chatting now he's got a pretty cool thing you made this yourself yeah i had belling build this trailer custom a few years back already so you guys must do a ton of edging to have something lined up because you bought a whole semi load of edging this spring yeah it was i don't know three miles worth or so holy crap three miles worth i've got pallet forks on both sides so i can have a set for the asv on the trailer uh-huh and then i've got like a toro dingo too so i can keep those forks on the other side and then no matter what machine you have for the day you're able to uh have your forks with i get three bundles on there so 600 feet edging at a time 600 feet at a time so some of you guys would say oh i thought it was going to be in a circle no that's what you find at the big box stores when we put edging in we use straight sticks because when you use that circle stuff it curls up on you and it's just uncontrollable i mean that's what i found i don't know mark what did you find with the yeah just lighter weight not as it's not as good as glasses 7 000 pound axles mark yes i think that's about right the lips are 7 000 i think if you were to build a new one now they upgraded them to 8 000 oh you tow it with this well technically then you have to have a class a right okay so once mark reaches 26 000 and one pounds you go up into the commercial rating so if he d rated that down rated that then you could have one of your guys haul it but right now because it's up it's rated to what it's meant for they can't do it right could be empty and you could be rolling down the road with maybe 8 000 pounds total weight empty but you still got to have the license the commercial license so all right well i get to keep going sounds good you too mark have a good one man [Music] and after two hard days of running the monkey cloud what do you guys think of it you've seen us take this thing right from the start to the end what's your thoughts on it did she perform and what would you change from what you guys have seen i'd clean up the hoses but this was a tough demo this wasn't an easy demo there was a lot of tougher components to this project not only access but also some of the materials we're using were not cooperating so and those hoses didn't seem to get hurt in any way shape or form but i still think we could clean them up and maybe add a better step we're not done yet we've got to finish the grid and we've got two change orders we need to talk to the customer about so let's see if we can do that together well you didn't have to change for me you know i got to go off something anyway okay so let's go over the grades real quick and show you what we did and oh hey show you all the brush we got so there's your brush pile gone you're good with that right okay i stuck it here for now because that way i can put it all together yeah yeah and so you can see where there's two two full loads right there for sure but you see see how the grades okay and then come straight towards us so is this straight right now or is there a slight dip to it uh it's a it's fairly flat yes good good call though it's fairly flat except for right behind that cat skid loader i think we need to take a tiny bit of this and put it there yeah yep so yeah if we don't put some black dirt down underneath this area i'm just thinking the school's gonna have a yeah a little connection fit on you i mean yeah i mean if we can just put seed if the school's okay with it i'm okay with it but if they come back and say you gotta sod it and we're not here i'm gonna go okay okay and see what he says okay perfect all right you guys well we gotta get a little dirt off the street but this is gonna be the end of day two tomorrow we're gonna bring in the hydra bucket and we're gonna start uh finish grading this site and get this wrapped up including cleaning up the boulevard and just finishing it off so thanks for going along on the journey with us today and hopefully we will see you when we wrap this project up in the very next video and whatever you guys are doing i hope it's just awesome for you god bless you guys and go get them catch you on another one
