Perform Initial External Gas Line Leak Test

What happens here

Before opening the furnace, use the prepared soapy water solution to perform an initial check on the external gas line connections. Dip a paper towel into the solution and apply it liberally to all threaded joints and fittings visible outside the furnace housing. Observe carefully for any bubble formation, which would indicate a gas leak. In this case, no leaks were detected externally.

Goal: Apply the concentrated soapy water solution to all visible external gas line connections of the furnace to check for immediate leaks.
