Gas Line Leak! How I Safely Re Piped My Furnace Gas Line Step By Step

What happens here

After disconnecting the external gas line fittings, inspect them for any old thread sealant, particularly shredded Teflon tape. It is crucial to remove all of this material. Use a utility knife to scrape off larger pieces of tape and then use a wire brush (or fitting brush) to clean the threads of both the flexible gas line connector and the ball valve on the main gas supply. Ensure no debris remains that could obstruct gas flow or compromise new sealant application.

Goal: Thoroughly remove all remnants of old thread sealant, especially Teflon tape, from the external gas line fittings to prevent future clogs and ensure proper sealing.
