all right guys stick around till after the end credits we are going to break new ground with this tiller it's going to be awesome hey there folks this is josh stoney ridge farmer welcome back to another awesome day here on the stoney ridge farm today is going to be a little different it's going to be fun this is tool tuesday here on the stoney ridge and we have a special surprise in the back of the raptor here i'm going to my dad's house and we're going to take this dr rear tine tiller and we're going to gift it to my dad so come along today as we put the d our rear tie and tiller together and we put it to work put it to use helping dad till his garden up for the year dad's got all kinds of projects all the time going on he's a lot like me so come along let's have some fun getting busy in the dirt all right road trip free to work i ain't afraid to play i ain't afraid to get the job done and do it my own damn way [Music] i ain't afraid of all right folks so we're leaving the stoney ridge farm and we're headed to dad's place dad lives on about a hundred acres and he doesn't farm anymore he just lives out in the country and enjoys his life he grows a garden every year and dad's had back trouble so dad is about 70 years old and uh well he is 70 years old he reminds me of that a lot and uh i i think this is going to be the ticket for him so he just had to have i hate to say this is like sharing health information but he's had back troubles and he's just had to have a doctor's appointment about his back so i'm gonna help him out by tilling up his garden and we're just gonna be good to our parents that's the main thing so if you guys have never been to the stoney ridge farm channel please pound that like button subscribe the channel i'd love to have you back this is a great place it's 150 acre first generation farm and homestead this thing is heavy it's a little bit breezy out here guys so forgive the wind it is what it is well packaged not beat up when it came in and again this came via freight pop this guy off it has no gas in it it ain't got no gas in it but we'll put our first little bit of gasoline in here uh it's got a fancy gas cap there with a tether so you don't lose it or drop it in the dirt instructions tools i'm not a big unboxing guy but we're gonna whip this out guys you'll get a little time lapse of me putting this thing together can't be hard we're ninety percent done and i've been at this for about two minutes very very easy assembly process [Music] set our tools aside 10 minutes to assemble this critter okay it doesn't come with fuel in it or motor oil in it so we've got to top it off with motor oil we're just going to use some 10w30 in here and this is it so this is what it looks like there's a cool feature on here so you can roll this around without the engine running so these are the drive wheels these tires will drive however they won't drive right now because the pin isn't set inside i'll get you a little close-up of that this engine is the dr engine 10.2 foot-pounds 212 cc motor very very nice it doesn't say how many horsepower i'm sure that's in the book man that's that's really nice so we'll top our oil off here's something really important let's get you a little detail here so how many of you guys have ever checked and or changed your oil in a small piece of our power equipment and not really known how to read the oil bam there's a sticker right there that tells you how to check the oil so in other words we undo this and when you go to check your oil you simply press the dipstick down in there just like the picture shows okay and it should show up right there on your dipstick that is something super handy guys i that makes this piece of equipment shine dr has been making equipment i think since 1985 this is the pro crt version counter rotating tine so evidently one tine rotates one way and one time must rotate the other way we'll see nice robust uh cast gearbox in here drive shaft right there another robust cast gearbox right there nice and smooth right here for when you're running through the garden this thing is not going to stay this pretty and clean for long i can't wait i'm going to get her all filled up with fuel we've got the choke everything you need here off on for our fuel so we'll turn the fuel on when we fill it up choke pull handle should be pretty simple to use and we got an on off switch right here awesome i'm not sure i'll have to do a little research or i'll let you guys post a comment tell me if you know does this thing have a low oil switch on it i wonder i'm curious this is how you adjust the depth okay so there's a little tool underneath here and that glides along the ground and that's how you adjust your depth so the way we have it set right here is the most shallow what we probably want to do is bring this up so we just pull a pin simply raise that pin up and now we'll really till deep cool so what you guys need to know is dad is an avid gardener okay you can see he's already jumped the gun on me he already tilled up a spot right here but he's got a place right down here that he's gonna put a little side garden where he's gonna put his eggplant so dad is a gardener i'm a gardener i think i got this bug from dad for sure check out this tree right here this is a walnut tree that he's groomed to shade the area where he sits and works that's pretty cool too so um dad's always got something going on that's for sure let's get this guy down fill it up with oil pull the cord and let it rip tater chip [Music] at the moment it free wheels but we pull this pin out just like so we slide our wheel outward ever so slightly and we slip our pin back into place and now the wheel is engaged via the gear mechanism in the machine same thing on the other side so when you get ready to roll it you put it in that position when you get ready to use it you slide your pin in oh right here where the appropriate hole is very cool we're probably gonna roll it into position under power let's fire this critter up while we're using this we'll definitely be wearing some hearing protection we're gonna turn our fuel to the on position we're gonna choke it just like so we'll turn this to the on position cross your fingers we get it on the first pull let's see what happens what that is awesome first pull brand new piece of equipment nice [Music] all right guys what you're seeing here is this tiller is just plowing through the soil man it's just pulling me right along really i don't have to worry about it i think it's going to be great for dad's back troubles he can just drive this thing right down and till up anything that he wants to till now he tilled the rest of the garden with a rototiller on the back of his tractor but you can't run that rototiller through to do your weeding so he'll be running that thing back and forth in between the rows to do some weeding and you can see there's a row right beside me that has some beets and then another row that has onions that is an avid gardener and the garden spot just gets bigger and bigger and bigger every year now you can see where i came to the end of the row and it has a reverse so in other words if you press the one handle on the top it'll drive you forward and drive the tines and if you press the handle on the rear it'll drive you backwards and it'll reverse the tines that way when it's reversing the tines and reversing the wheels if you get hung up on a root or a rock or something you can back right off of it and then just keep hitting it going down the road what an awesome machine guys this thing is great no complaints at all we'll see after about a year we'll revisit this and see how dad likes it so i misspoke when i talked about the counter rotating tines both sets of tines rotate the same direction they just rotate in the opposite direction that the wheels rotate in other words it pulls it down into the soil you can see that right here man this thing's doing great oh my that is a tool man holy cow how easy that was to use uh let's get dad's opinion come over here dad see what you tell me what you think about this wonderful wonderful it's just like an ash bank yeah the soil is so soft and so workable yeah awesome so you tilled this what about a month ago something like that at the at the most okay we're gonna till up another spot in the end credits guys it has grass in it where an old apple tree used to be uh so you like the tiller i love it it's yours oh i love it thank you you know that thank you son thank you you think you can handle it i can handle it it's yours to keep i can that's it now if i need it back i know where to get it that's right exactly right dad's famous saying is you gonna get it back anyway one day yeah it'll still go back to him well guys that's it that's the dr tiller that thing is awesome holy cow it just basically does all the work for you pro cut i'll post a link down the video description for you guys and again this is a sponsored video but i thought it'd be pretty special to give dad an awesome gift for his garden this year so hopefully he'll be using that to cultivate through here and keep the weeds down what do you think thank you uh good times guys well thanks a lot we'll see you next time on tool tuesday be sure you pound that like button guys we also have a dr field and brush trimmer that we're going to be trying out too and doing a little bit of review i have no issue with this thing this thing is awesome i actually want to take it back home loaded on the truck but we're not tilling on the farm all my garden beds are raised beds awesome guys thanks a lot please pound that like button i'd love to see you back here again on the stoney ridge farm channel we'll see in the next tool tuesday review all right whoo how about a whoa [Laughter] good [Music] pure and stuff that's the way it's supposed to be stoney red
