Full throttle! Makita 80V Chopsaw VS GAS!

What happens here

The video begins with unboxing the Makita XGT 80V max (40V x2) 14-inch cutting saw. The presenter introduces Trevor from Makita, who is a product expert. They discuss the strategic reasons behind Makita's decision to develop a 40V battery system (XGT). Trevor explains that while their 18V system is robust, certain high-demand tools, such as large concrete saws, rotary hammers, and chipping hammers, require more power. The 40V platform was created to support these higher-power, higher-draw tools. The presenter shows various Makita XGT tools available in this battery platform, including an impact driver, circular saw, and recip saw, emphasizing the platform's versatility.

Goal: Understand the purpose and versatility of the Makita 40V XGT battery platform.

[Music] all right guys I'm here with Trevor from Makita how are you Trevor good Dan all right so he is the actual product rep and expert on this and I just have one simple straightforward question why did you guys opt for a 40 volt system well we needed to bridge the gap on some of the the tool usage that was out on the marketplace right now our 18vt stuff is phenomenal we're not getting rid of it but there's certain tools that needed more power and we had to come up with this 40 volt battery platform really to support these higher power higher draw type tools like the 14-in concrete saw like some of the bigger rotary Hammers and chipping hammers um but in doing so with that new battery platform we didn't want something that was Standalone just for those tools so we had to kind of broaden the whole offering to impact drivers to reip saws to Circular saws to really support the line for people that got into the 40 volt platform so if I understand this correctly you needed to create a battery platform that could handle the high demand high energy drop raw tools but you didn't want to put the end user at stake and not give them a flexibility and versatility to be able to run other things so you also created a platform that could operate their handheld tools as well like impact drivers and circular saws and things like that is that right you got it all right well I think the next thing we need to do is just see how well this 40 volt system actually works in some really tough real world conditions sounds good all right let's do it I
