What happens here
Begin by assessing the chicken brooder. Observe the chicks' behavior to determine if the heat lamp is too warm; if they are crowded away from it, it's likely too hot. Acknowledge that Cornish Rock Cross chickens consume a large amount of food and water, which results in significant manure production. Utilize this manure, also known as 'butt fertilizer' or chicken litter, for composting. Maintain the existing litter in the brooder and add a scoopful of fresh wood shavings every other day on top of it. This layering technique aids in composting the litter while the chicks are still in the brooder, creating a valuable fertilizer for the garden.
Goal: Produce nutrient-rich chicken manure for garden fertilization.
