What happens here

This DIY project demonstrates how to fix a recessed electrical outlet by installing an electrical box extender. The process involves safely cutting power, removing the existing outlet, fitting the extender to bring the outlet flush with the finished wall surface, and re-securing it with longer screws before re-installing the cover plate. It also includes a tip for shortening screws if they are too long.

That ain't going to work. Let's fix it. If you plan ahead, you can set your new work box to the depth of your finished wall. Or they make these adjustment boxes that make it pretty easy to adjust the depth. If you didn't plan ahead, or your box is already installed and you don't want to take it out, you can go ahead and get these box extenders. They make them in all different widths. Depending on the thickness of your extension, you're going to need to get new screws. First thing you got to do, kill the breaker and verify the outlet doesn't have any power. Take the screws out of your outlet. Once you have the outlet out, you can go ahead and pull these screws out of here. Now you can take your outlet extender right over the top. Take your new screws, put them here in the top, and screw them into your box. Same concept for these half-inch extenders. Pull it out from the wall, take your box extender, slip it over, slip it under, fit it into your wall, take your new screws. If they're too long, take your wire strippers, thread it in, cut, screw, cover plate. This outlet's good to go. Now our outlet isn't buried in the wall, and it sits where it should. Anyways, I got stuff to do. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
