What happens here

This project demonstrates how to create and use a simple water level tool using clear tubing to transfer elevations accurately for various DIY and construction tasks. The video explains the principle behind why it works, provides step-by-step instructions on how to fill and prepare the tubing, and demonstrates its practical application for leveling siding.

How do I know if the bottom of this siding is at the same elevation as that siding? With water. Let's get after it. Step one, fill your hose with water. Your hose is going to have a bunch of bubbles in it and that's going to throw off your level. So, you want to get those bubbles out. Once you have your hose filled with water, put one end in a bucket and drop the other end on the ground and that'll get all your air bubbles out. Okay, now once you have all your air bubbles out, pick your hose up, plug the end, grab your other end. After you got all the bubbles out, you want to make sure that your level's accurate. So, hold them up. It doesn't matter the length on these ends. Just hold it, let the water do its thing. As you can see, the water's at the same level. And here's how you actually use it. I'm going to use the bottom of the siding as my reference mark. I'm going to move the tube up and down to make sure that the water stays on my reference mark. My water line is right at the edge of my siding. And around the corner, that water line is right at the edge of the siding. And the reason that this works is pretty simple. Water connected with both ends open will naturally settle at the same elevation. And that's why water levels work great for transferring elevation on your siding, when you're building a deck, whatever the case is, the ground doesn't have to be level, it's going to show the same elevation on both sides. There are a few ways that you can mess this up. One, by kinking the hose or having air bubbles in it, keeping your finger over the top and not letting the water settle before you mark it. This is going to be dead accurate every time and for just some clear tubing and a little bit of water, it works out really well. Anyways, it's Friday night and I got stuff to do. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
