What happens here

Brace posts are crucial for absorbing the immense tension of high-tensile woven wire. The video demonstrates a 'turn assembly' brace for corners, consisting of a 4-inch by 10-foot Schedule 40 pipe as the strainer post, a 10-foot by 2.375-inch pipe for the strut, and a 3-inch by 6-foot stubby pipe driven completely into the ground. These components are welded together to create a super-tight, good-looking brace that resists pulling up from the ground. Unlike traditional bracing along the fence line, this system braces directly into the middle of the turn's angle, effectively counteracting the opposing forces without lifting the post. This design is robust, prevents post lift-out, and ensures the fence remains taut.

Goal: Install durable brace posts to withstand extreme wire tension at turns

Tools and materials

  • 10-Foot by 2 3/8-Inch Pipe — Forming the strut for the brace post, angled from the strainer post
  • 3-Inch by 6-Foot Stubby Pipe — Driven all the way into the ground to anchor the brace
  • 4-Inch by 10-Foot Schedule 40 Pipe — Serving as the main strainer post in the turn assembly
  • Welding Equipment — To securely join the pipe components of the brace
