Fencing Like A Pro...Knot tying..Pulling wire tight and more!

What happens here

The figure-eight knot is a strong and reliable knot for joining fence wires under tension. To tie it, create a loop (U-shape) in the wire. Take the other end of the wire and feed it through the loop from below. Then, wrap it around the main wire and feed it back through the loop, creating a 'figure-eight' pattern. Pull the knot snug by hand, taking out any slack. When tension is applied with a chain strainer, the knot will pull down tightly, making it very secure and unlikely to unravel. The demonstration shows that the knot holds firm and tightens under pressure.

Goal: Learn to tie a secure figure-eight knot for joining wires under tension.

Tools and materials

  • Chain Strainer Strain Right — Applying tension to test the knot
