Fastest & strongest way to build floating shelves

What happens here

With the jig board now completed (featuring the drilled holes and the routed channel), place it back onto the top surface of your actual shelf blank, precisely aligning the drilled holes. Clamp both pieces securely together. Using the compact router with the straight bit, guide the router along the channel in your jig board. This will accurately transfer the channel's dimensions and placement to the top surface of your shelf blank. This routed channel will allow the flat backing plate of the floating shelf bracket to sit flush with the top surface of the shelf. Remove any remaining wood dust or debris from the channel using a shop vacuum.

Goal: Using the custom-made jig, rout the corresponding channel into the actual shelf blank to perfectly house the floating shelf bracket's backplate.
