Fast Fireplace Makeover. Rock Fireplace To Weathered Wood.

What happens here

To complete the fireplace refacing, trim out the fireplace opening and install the baseboards. Use thin furring strips, ripped down to approximately a quarter inch, to create a neat trim around the inner edge of the fireplace opening. These can be the same type of furring strips used for the backing, just cut thinner. For the bottom edge of the fireplace, install pre-primed 1x4 baseboards. Cut the baseboards with 45-degree mitered corners for a clean, seamless look at the transitions. Finally, hand-brush and paint the baseboards to match or complement the rest of the fireplace design.

Goal: Add decorative trim around the fireplace opening and install baseboards for a finished look.

What they say

[Music] So, the inside of the fireplace right here, we just trimmed it out with our little furring strips that we actually used to mount our plywood to right here. And then we just took and ripped the furring strip down to about a/4 in. And so made this trim right here, which actually trimmed this out really nice. Put our just baseboards down here, cut 45° quarters. We use just 1x4 pre pre- primed baseboards right here that we just hand brush and painted just to trim out the bottom.
