DIY Guide to Everything Retaining Walls w/ Versa-Lok -Including Stairs, design, Construction & more
What happens here
Laying successive courses requires careful attention to running bond and setback. For hollow blocks, a running bond (where vertical joints are offset between courses) is mandatory to interlock the blocks when aggregate is core-filled. For solid Versa-Lok blocks, which are pinned together, running bond is less critical but still recommended for aesthetic consistency. Ensure the retaining wall blocks have a 3/4-inch setback, while the stair side remains vertical.
Goal: Correctly implement running bond and pinning for structural integrity.
