What happens here

This project provides a comprehensive guide on how to properly prepare and paint OSB (Oriented Strand Board) walls to achieve a smooth, drywall-like finish. It contrasts this method with simply painting OSB directly, which typically results in an undesirable, rough texture. The process involves thorough cleaning, securing fasteners, sealing seams with joint compound, extensive sanding, priming, and finally applying a topcoat.

Most people paint OSB like drywall and it turns out like trash. Rough texture, gaps, nail holes, and it soaks up paint unevenly. Just painting it won't fix this. If you don't prep this wall, it's actually going to make this worse. You need to clean it really well, pound in all your nails and your staples or pull them out, then go ahead and seal your seams, sand it down, and then prime and top coat. I'm going to be taking this wall from this to over the next week. If you don't want your OSB turning out like trash, follow along.
