Customer had a Bad Meter Socket.. And this is how you get it repaired! Thoughts? #electrician

What happens here

After installation, the new meter box is shown with the internal wiring completed. This includes terminating two hot wires and one neutral wire. These are specifically identified as 4/0 aluminum conductors, which are appropriately rated for a 200 amp service. The physical conduit for the service entrance is a 2-inch rigid pipe, providing durable protection for the conductors.

Goal: Securely connect the service conductors within the new meter box.

Tools and materials

  • 2-inch Rigid Pipe — Protecting the service entrance conductors
  • Electrical Lugs/Connectors — Connecting the conductors within the meter box
  • New Meter Box — Housing the electrical meter and connections
  • Torque Wrench — Ensuring electrical connections are tightened to specification
  • 4/0 Aluminum Conductors — Main hot and neutral service wires

okay, so we didn't need to touch it. My bro Ken is below installing the new 200 amp meter box and I'm currently prepping the weather head of the service by stripping the wires to connect back to the utility. Here's the new meter box. We got our wires terminated, two hot wires and one neutral wire. The size of the wire was four out aluminum which is rated for 200 amps. This service is in 2-in rigid pipe, so it ain't going anywhere. My bro Ken got the wires all bugged back to the utility, and I'm below putting the meter back in. Utility wire was live, so we had to be careful. I need to get over my fear of wire
