What happens here

This project details the repair of a strained meter socket and exposed electrical wires, a common issue caused by ground settlement, weather, and ice. The repair involves cutting the existing PVC conduit, installing a 3-inch PVC expansion coupling to allow for movement, extending a sinking neutral wire using a mechanical lug, and insulating the splice with heat shrink wrap. This is a critical electrical repair that should only be performed by qualified professionals.

You can see the wires are exposed. All right, guys. So, a customer called. They said that their meter socket is strained. So, take a look at this pipe, guys. You can see the wires are exposed right here. Over time, actually, due to land, weather, ice, and the ground, it actually caused the pipe to sink to the ground here. So, over the years, this is why this happens. This is a 3in PVC pipe. So, what we're going to do is we're going to install an expansion coupling to fix this problem. Mhm. [Music] >> Boom. >> Guys, I put a mechanical lug like a butt splice in here. Really solid braid up of the 250 MCM from 250 MCM to six gauge. Put a shrink wrap around this. So you light this up and it's just going to contract. >> Light it up. Up. Light it up. >> Suck in. >> Nice. Looks good. That actually looks really good. That looks like a repair. Good stuff.
