What happens here
Once all pavers for the walkway are laid and the stone coping treads are firmly set (and any mortar has cured), use a plate compactor to compact the entire paver surface. Make at least two passes over the pavers, varying the direction of each pass to ensure even compaction. Next, generously sweep polymeric sand across the compacted pavers, ensuring it fills all the joints. Use a stiff-bristled broom to work the sand deep into the joints, then remove any excess sand from the paver surface. Finally, lightly mist the polymeric sand with water using a garden hose with a fine spray nozzle to activate its binding agents. This will cause the sand to harden and lock the pavers in place, preventing weed growth and insect infestation.
Goal: Secure pavers and fill joints to stabilize the walkway.
