Concrete Look With Venetian Plaster. Not What I Expected!

What happens here

Open the bucket of pre-tinted Venetian plaster (in a light gray/cream color). Load a small amount of plaster onto a hawk, then transfer it to a flexible metal trowel. Apply the plaster to the wall at a 15-degree angle, spreading a thin, even layer. Work in small sections, covering the entire fireplace wall. The first coat does not need to be perfectly smooth; some texture and imperfections are acceptable as they will contribute to the final look. Allow the first coat to dry completely overnight.

Goal: This step involves applying the initial layer of tinted Venetian plaster to the primed fireplace wall using a hawk and trowel for even coverage.

overnight we have our plaster our Venetian plaster here Irena ordered this and apparently they could have a color match or a color selection so as you can see there's a little preview it's like a lighter gray with a hint of like a cream color in there let's open the sucker up okay hopefully that'll be enough so the instructions on the website they say that uh use a Hawken trowel and what you want to do is you apply it with your trowel onto the wall at a 40 at a 15 degree angle and then you can raise it to about a higher 30 degree angle and essentially you're smearing this thing on there it's going to be a two-step process it's gonna be two different coats in two different days just to make sure we have a nice even coat so it's my first time doing this let's see how it comes out [Music] you know it's applying really easy it's kind of impressive and you don't really have to make it extra smooth because concrete is not perfectly smooth but I will knock all these little ones down get the next coat a lot cooler and smoother but all in all kind of nice [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right the first coat is done it needs to dry overnight for the second coat to cover everything up and then we'll do the I think it's called the burnish coat uh but in the meantime not wasting time let's go start working on the mold the concrete mold for this Hearth two things about the Hearth uh
