CHEAP! EASY! AWESOME FENCE THAT CONFUSES DEER...AND KEEPS THEM OUT!!!
What happens here
Install synthetic plastic posts 36 inches outside the inner T-posts along the perimeter. These posts have a pointed end that can be easily pushed into the ground using foot pressure. For corner posts, angle them slightly outward to maintain tension on the wire. Attach a single strand of poly wire to insulators on these outer posts, also at 18 inches from the ground. This creates the two-layered '3D' effect that deters deer.
Goal: Complete the outer fence layer to create a three-dimensional barrier.
Tools and materials
- Electric Fence Charger — To electrify the poly wire, providing a deterrent shock to deer
- Fence Insulators — To attach poly wire to plastic posts and prevent electrical grounding
- Measuring Stick — To ensure accurate spacing of outer posts and wire height
- Poly Wire — Electrified line for the outer fence
- Synthetic Plastic Posts — Support posts for the outer fence layer
