Jointing, Curing, and Final Touches
At 0:45 in
Built this project for my mom, she previously had pretty dangerous wooden steps
What happens here
Once all pavers are laid and correctly positioned, thoroughly sweep polymeric sand into all the joints between the pavers on the steps and the landing. Use a broom to work the sand deep into the joints, ensuring they are completely filled. After sweeping, use a leaf blower or soft broom to remove any excess polymeric sand from the paver surfaces, as residue can cause hazing. Finally, lightly mist the entire paver area with a hose equipped with a fine spray nozzle. This activates the polymers in the sand, causing it to harden and lock the pavers in place, preventing weed growth and insect infestation. Allow the sand to cure according to manufacturer instructions. Place decorative planters or furniture to complete the new, accessible patio entrance.
Goal: Secure the pavers, inhibit weed growth, and prepare the new steps and landing for use and aesthetic enjoyment.
