Budget Turbo Yukon XL 4L80 Conversion: The Transmission Crossmember Mod! (100k Play Button Unboxing)

What happens here

Position the modified crossmember pieces under the vehicle, with the newly acquired steel plates temporarily held in the gaps. Use a marker to draw precise lines on the steel plates and the crossmember where they will be welded. This allows for accurate alignment before tack welding. Pay close attention to the transmission mount pad's position and ensure the modified crossmember provides adequate support and clearance.

Goal: Precisely mark the welding areas for the filler plates on the crossmember.

Tools and materials

  • Marker — To draw guide lines for welding
  • Modified Crossmember Pieces — The sections to be welded

so it's the same length again um had these pieces cut long on purpose just so i'd have extra room to work with because check this out what i'll do is when i attack this i'll just weld it up and then chop the ends off and then weld there i could have made it perfect but you know i always like to leave a little bit of extra material when i can just in case because this does move this is still a little loose it was kind of hard to tell now we know for sure that it's going to work so i'm going to break up the old handy handy sharpie and i'm just going to trace this so that i know trace it here and make a marker line on here now we know sharpies are your friend when food arcading anything i don't like measuring i like putting marks on things and then putting it back on the marks i would if someone had me build a house it would be freaking crooked as hell but for tiny things it works okay some of the times i'm gonna pull these out cool uh i should have cleaned all those first but you know then my hands wouldn't be all dirty you guys wouldn't think i actually do work around here
