Budget Turbo Yukon XL 4L80 Conversion (Part 3): Sticking It In! Swap Tips + HD Transfer Case Hunt!

What happens here

Remove the old flexplate from the vehicle. The presenter explains that a 4L60E flexplate is not compatible with a 4L80E transmission due to different spacing. If using an OEM-style flexplate, a spacer would be required. The old flexplate is then removed using a Milwaukee impact wrench.

Goal: Replace the old flexplate with a new one compatible with the 4L80E

Tools and materials

old gasket nice and crusty you might as well clean that back out before we put it on like it's probably just something you should do so now we got the filter and the pan back on and we can now buzz this off the old flex plate you can't use the same flex plate with the 406 and 480. the spacing is different don't get the 480 in the converter and have it you know you're going to bolt it up it's not going to fit so yeah the if you want to use an oem style flex plate it's going to have to have a spacer in here space it out and then give a new place for the cam button to seat beaker the the converter button to see because there's actually a nub on the back of the torque converter that seats in here kind of centers everything so it doesn't vibrate but yeah that's a whole another thing there's a plethora of information on that on google if you search it kind of like a lot of things that i get asked a lot just saying you need to use google before you ask people things anyway uh let's get this off and get our super sweet bonafide friction flex plate
