What happens here
This video demonstrates the process of installing new tires on a skid loader, highlighting the physical mounting of the wheels, proper tread orientation, correct lug nut tightening sequence, and safe lifting procedures using the machine's hydraulics and jack stands. The video addresses a common mistake of incorrect tire mounting and shows its correction. Notably, actual tire inflation via air compressors is not shown in this segment.

(10,469 characters)come on girl hey guys it's Josh stony Ridge farmer this is Lexie Lexie Lexie is our new German Shepherd pup so we ended up doing sweetie awesome you're a movie star so folks Lexi's our new German Shepherd Club we got a German Shepherd puppy because the other two little cattle dogs that we had just had a very poor safety awareness I was really worried when I was working with the tractor with the other two pups I didn't want them to get ran over and they just seemed to always be underfoot and under tire so basically that led to us having to keep him up all the time and I don't think a dog should have to be kept up all the time so we ended up finding a local farmer here they wanted some good dogs he just lost his sweet little dog and it was a cattle dog so we ended up letting him adopt the two cattle dog mixed pups just because they had such a poor safety awareness here on the farm and I didn't want to see him get hurt guys so we got a new German Shepherd German Shepherd seems to be a great breed for what we're doing here on the farm and I'm happy with her she's a cutie let's go feed the goats folks if you're new to the vlog if you're a new subscriber this is the old Bronco this is a 69 Ford Bronco we're gonna start doing some work on it got it parked up here in the past year man look how beautiful it is this is a new grass that we planted somewhere in the neighborhood of a month and a half ago maybe looking great beautiful check it out awesome let's go up here and check on the goats we've got the goats all set up in this new poultry netting okay this new electrified poultry netting I'll show you we're gonna go up here we feed them once a day a couple scoops of grain and we give them some hay bales now the hay bales they stay inside all the time right here they stay inside with the goats well that's becoming quite a problem if you see I'll take you over here and show you real quick so the problem is that the goats take the hay bale and they spread it all out so I put this hay bale right here in about I don't know four days ago and they've already just made a big mess of it and this hay bale too now that's great for the land that's awesome for the land but it's not so awesome for me as a farmer trying to conserve hay and actually feed the animals the amount of hay that they need so we've got to figure out a better system we'll probably buy a feeder so we can just set the hay down in a feeder that way the goods don't waste it all [Music] so guys I know it looks like the goats are starving to death but they're not starving to death I promise they just go after this food the guys I don't know if you know already but goats are very territorial about their food as you can tell and you can tell who gets ignored and who is pretty much the leader of the pack now I think old Billy right here he's pretty much the leader of the pack and this old grumpy gray one where she goes over there she's a little bit of a leader too so goats are just violent when it comes to food time so folks if you wondering how we store our food we use a Rubbermaid trash barrel and we also have a metal trash barrel I like the Rubbermaid went a little bit better but we thought we'd try both and see which one suited us best I'll give you a little tour here a little goat talk so we water the goats in this barrel right here we've got 11 goats this is a 25 gallon water container and in the fall time they might go through that over about 4 days in the summer time that lasts about 2 days maybe even only 1 day so we keep a few water buckets up here already full of water so that we don't have to drive the Gator through this field right here so we try to keep some water stock piled up here all the time that way we don't have to drive the Gator so much through the field when it's really wet now using this bucket method may seem a little bit archaic but we don't have any water up here so we've got to do something and the easiest way is to just load the Gator up with some water and bring it up here folks look for some future vlogs on this Bronco we're gonna get it out and get it running awesome awesome tuff farm vehicle check that thing out been in my family for like 30 years as I'm carrying these buckets back all around me are future vlogs right here we're going to take this old tobacco barn we're gonna build a cool cabin where folks like you can come and stay so stick around you're new to the vlog this is what it's all about guys enjoying this country lifestyle really cool so folks we got the Stoney Ridge Farm band all cleaned up today guess what going on another road trip that's right we're going up to Amish country in Ohio we're gonna take you guys along with us to Amish country in Ohio should be pretty awesome I might consider this vlog like a lead-in to the next few vlogs here okay so if you haven't seen our hundred-dollar farm truck we bought this truck for a hundred bucks the other day we're gonna be doing all kinds of fun stuff to it for a hundred bucks we're gonna have some fun with this thing might do some Dukes of Hazzard doughnuts and stuff like that just have some good time strap some GoPros on here how many 1978 pickup trucks do you think I've ever had a GoPro strapped to it we're gonna have some fun with it that's for sure but we got to make sure that it's reliable that it's gonna run it's not gonna break down so if we drive it up to go pick up parts and we go use it as like a shop truck or a farm truck we want to be able to depend on it to take us 30 40 50 miles I haven't started it in two days put a new battery in once again this thing hadn't run for like five years or so something like that five six seven four or something like that I'm not sure a number of years it's still got the old ethanol gas in it which is garbage so we're gonna start her up and see if she runs just as good as she did the other day when I started I'm driving around the farm a little bit see yeah she does tap the gas twice no complaining about that guys still running great I'm gonna let it per here for a little bit trying to burn all this old crappy gas out of it so gonna let it sit here and just run for a bit it needs to run while this thing's running we got our new tires for our skid loader so let's go pop those back on so may have told you already about the expense of putting new tires on the skid loader man I thought that would have been about a hundred and fifty two hundred dollars apiece for only a hundred and seven dollars a piece can't beat that when I busted that tire man I thought I was in for a big one thought I was gonna have to get hit really hard in the wallet but so far so good let's lap these tires back on I'll show you the new ones the new ones are far superior to the old ones I'll put a little clip in right now what the old ones look like but man that's gonna be nice these things are a little bit on the heavy side let's see if we can get them on here there we go so as I put these wheels back on I wanted to tell you something I didn't know so the tires were on here wrong evidently the tires on the front of a skid steer once you'd be facing one way the tread pattern and the other should be facing the other way so we got that problem fixed too let's put the wheels on so guys when we put this wheel back on we want to go in a star kind of pattern okay we don't want to just tighten one two three four or five all the way around we want to cross crisscross back and forth as we tighten these things up and that way they don't come loose for some reason and one you guys might be able to leave a comment down there to tell me but for some reason if you tighten them all the way around like that they tend to come loose I don't know really folks I should be using a torque wrench to get the right torque specs on these but I'm just going to tighten them up here for now maybe we'll get the torque wrench on them a little bit later I doubt we will probably just tighten them up good and snug so folks sometimes you do dumb stuff on the farm and this was dumb okay I put this tire on backwards put the wheel on backwards it really looks similar both on the inside and the outside but the only difference really is that the outside has the vowel stem on it and I just looked at it it seemed to be tightening up funny and it turns out I put it on backwards sometimes farm is failing guys we just gotta fix it folks if you've never done anything wrong in your life go ahead and leave a comment down below okay and tell me how dumb I was for putting this on backwards that's sarcasm now let's put this one on the right way now if you were tuned in to the vlog when we pulled these tires off we use the lift to raise it up and then we put jack stands up underneath to hold it in place in case the lift started to settle well the lift did settle okay so it's a good thing we put the jack stands up if we hadn't done that the axles would probably be sitting on the ground right now we'll start with our first one we'll kind of lightly Snug it up and we'll go across and we'll Snug this one up fairly lightly so that it sets in on this rim right here this RIM piece and then we'll go to town with it alright folks so I had to climb in here we'll drop the gate start her up raise it up like that Tony you'll pull the deck says I got my friend Tony here he's gonna pull the jack stands out alright so we got our jack stands out lower back down to the ground shut her down and get out just that simple guys you don't need a jack when you got a tractor you can just raise it up and do your thing load up good boy well guys thanks a lot for coming and joining us today me and buddy and Lexi having a good old time on the farm here not a lot of action going on today just getting a few things done thought we'd take you along with us don't forget to click that like button down there click the little bell you'll get to see our Ohio trip got a lot of stuff going on we're going to be turning on tobacco barn into a cabin we're gonna be building a farmstead cabin over here working on the old Bronco working on the hundred dollar truck here so we're gonna take the old truck for a little drive go to the store here pick up a few things and get ready for our trip thanks a lot for joining us guys I look forward to talking to you about our trip
