Install Under-Deck Wood Soffit

What happens here

To provide a finished and protective underside for the covered deck, a wooden soffit/ceiling is installed. This involves carefully measuring and cutting individual wood planks or panels to fit between the exposed joists. Each piece is then nailed or screwed into the underside of the joists, creating a continuous, aesthetically pleasing ceiling. This step often includes wiring for lighting and ceiling fans before the panels are fully enclosed.
