(19,995 characters)we got to show you where the entire razor back concept came from is this the original one Blake so there she is that's what I seen right there in all her glory uh-huh yep look at it cleaned up the curb and everything look at how clean that is we're going to hit this sidewalk we're going to get all the b-roll we need to make this video amazing all right good morning one and all Tim and Alex and I are out at Arctic and we are looking at a completely revamped snow PL guys this is Spencer one of the Arctic Brothers how you doing Spence so the new Arctic snowplow is finally here yes sir it's finally done it's done and everything that I seen is beyond anything that I got the sneak peek of before hey your word not ours love to hear that time for you to get one test it out open this up for you all right guys I want to introduce you to the rest of the team guys this is Blake how you doing Blake St and Lucas what's going on St so the brand new plow is finally done yeah and you're good to go we got a sneak peek at it before y but what I seen in then and what I see now is there's nothing I mean it's just beyond anything that I yeah and guys Blake if you don't know who Blake and Lucas are they're pretty much the ones that developed the Razer back from the ground up 7 years ago now was it about yeah was 2018 yeah and then um you kept it in development for 5 years and on a little fun side note Blake actually built a car that went 816 miles on one gallon of fuel so he's a freaking genius so so when you're looking at what you're seeing here and you built that from scratch from the ground up the mold the frame pretty much everything about that car everything yeah everything about it yep just like this plow exactly all right walk me through this let's see let's take a look at it yeah so this is our what we're dubing the Razer back full kit okay so it's no longer needing to retrofit so you're using um our headlights our wire and harness our Hydraulics all that okay so before we took a look at it you're going all aluminum uh anything non structural we're going aluminum just to cut down and weight there's one thing that I want to hammer down on is a lot of people are saying this plow looks heavy and is heavier than the other plows out there Lucas what is the weight coming in at on this now this is going to come in about 100 lb heavier than a western white out which is what uh will'll be around 1250 1300 on this okay 1250 that's a full everything that's adds everything from stem to stir yeah okay so we had a customer that had a 9 and 1/2t vpod with wings and a big snow deflector on it and we asked him to take it to a truck scale and weigh his truck with the plow on and then weigh with it off that plow ended up being 12250 lb okay which our Razorback full kit is roughly 1,250 lb so it's the same weight a lot of people have been saying well you know it looks heavy it's too heavy for the truck not knowing that there's already Plows in the market that weigh that much so I wanted to kind of address that and if the key is WR show on this what are we looking at yeah no so I just wanted to show the amount of suspension Drew okay wait a minute is this a stock stock truck no modifications the keys haven't been cranked for people that don't know that that means you go under the truck and you can tighten the spring to uh make it uh raise the truck up we haven't done that it's not modified anyway so this is just stock truck and there you go so it's about an inch of dro mhm I don't know I figur it's important for people to know that the plow is within spec of what other people offer okay so you're not heavier than what other plows are out there not the heaviest on the market by any means nope no there's there's big be plows with snow deflectors and wings that will weigh more than 12250 lb okay good that's what I wanted to know but we're going to get all the B- roll we need to make this video amazing so one of the things I was talking about in the video and kind of off camera with you stand is how tight the plow is and there's not all low to slop so like when you're in which obviously wouldn't do this for any reason but just showing how solid the plow is to where it feels like an actual extension of the truck not just this thing you slapped on the front of it that's jarring out and moving has a lot of slop to it it's very solid let's take a look at what you've got done cuz now you've got your own hookup you got your own controller your own hookup system you've got your ability to program your controller you've got down pressure I'm giving it all away but I don't care cuz this is some cool stuff yeah we're going to go through it all all right so let's go for it this we'll start with the controller so our wiring our uh controller see that there now you have this is one of three available yeah we have a larger option available and then we also have a joystick that will be available so walk me through this anything special I need to know about this Blake um yeah we just have a button for each function pretty much so we have up down we also have down pressure so that light starts flashing but it's not just regular down pressure this is down pressure that well I'm not going to say you say it you're the engineer so I don't we haven't named it yet but it's live down pressure so if it sees you lose down pressure let's say you go into dip there's a pressure sensor in there that's always going to kick it back to the value that you set it at one of the programmable features in the controller is something called Soft stop so you can program when you're using the wings or using the power angle it will stop slowly so this is just programmed normally so you can kind of feel a little bit more jarring to the truck but you can see how tight the plow is made where it just stops instantly there's not a lot of movement in the mole board while you're doing it it's very tightly made so the problem with down pressure is as you're going as you cu the ground is contouring it's not sensing it so there's times when down pressure is not actually down pressure at all it's basically floating or it's even up y with yours it's constant down pressure no matter what the ground is doing yeah it will if it senses a loss in the down pressure for a second it'll re-engage it to the preset value okay so the pump that we've chosen for this plow is a two horsepower pump to my knowledge from talking to Blake most of the other manufacturers are using anywhere from a 3/4 horsepower pump to maybe at Max a 1 and A2 horsepower pump so we're definitely trying to allow the plow to use larger cylinders but also keep the speed up so that way you have the durability of a larger cylinder but you have a speed of a smaller cylinder bik giving you that bigger pump for more flow okay let's walk up front here and take a look at that show me show me the show me the guts of this thing yeah so everything selfcontained so not everything's you know not getting covered by weather or salt or anything staying nice and clean uh this would actually be your down pressure adjustment here so that's your down pressure adjustment so you can get that dialed right into where you want it okay what else are we looking at just hit that value every time you do down pressure okay uh pump manifold nothing crazy got a module that does the control system and headlights and we got a little pump there for the uh Locking System actually which I could show you that another good feature of this I'd say a pump for the Locking System yeah so our plow hooks up to a boss style Mount okay and we also have adapters that we're making for people that Western mounts okay plow fully hydraulic on and off and if you want to get down in here yeah I want to see the pins so even the pins themselves okay so go for Up Lift unlock that's it you're hooked up yep that's it so drop it let's drop it and then let's rehook it up one time for these guys pins are out plows down you back away you're completely free at this point And now when you when you're finally into your under Carriage you hit two buttons and you're good to go yeah up your cables that's it that's it and Lucas you were saying that the installation of this is super easy will you walk me through that yeah we can do that do this truck yeah let's talk about this truck we can go look at my truck that Nick's working on but you've already got one hooked up teaser teaser my truck's getting one so the truck and plow uses one module on each side the plow has a module in here that communicates with the harness and the truck module up there they're both look the same it's up in there you can see so that's the top module right up in here right yep that would be that and then you have the one under the hood on the truck right there yep so what does that do so it's just this controls your headlights this controls your plow they have to communicate with each other make sure the truck knows that there's a a plow on it and the turns off headlights and they communicate like on other plows unlike other plows the installation time on this because we only have module on the plow and a module on the truck it's very quick it's mostly plug andplay for Led trucks with harnesses um for the hallogen trucks it's a little bit different but with ours it's very minimalist so you're going to run 12 volt from the battery down to the plow itself and then you have your headlight harness that runs up the grill plugs into a module that GM supplies with plug andplay uh connectors so there's no splicing and then you just run your harness into the C for the controller so it's very simple what about the truck sided uh Mount tell me about that the actual where the the plow hooks into it now I know you've got your everything else but tell me about that okay so we're utilizing a Bloss style hookup for our plow and if you guys have a western uh style hookup on your truck you actually take those horns out that come for The Westerns and then we have a carriage that adapts your Western mounts into a boss style Mount so this will go on a boss style a western style will it go on a Fisher style at this time it will not no will it go on a snow it'll go on a snowx Style snowx Style yep okay so a guy if he wants to upgrade his plow tell me about about that what's the process look like for that so if he was say running an existing boss setup and he wanted to go to our kit he would you utilize his boss style Mount that wouldn't change and then he would utilize our wiring actually this truck is wired for both so right now it's actually wired for Boss because we are running the boss retrofit kit um for the boss EXT kit that we had before the full kit I should say kit one more time okay go ahead and say kit one more time okay but now off camera you were saying this is tighter faster more powerful tell me about that cuz you've been you've been testing this here they've been testing it right here Blake and his off time goes out in the summer yeah off off time cuz he's got a lot of that goes out and just smashes this plow into piles of salt yeah or our blocks of seen that a lot of the videos we do or trade shows that we have the blocks that we hit but CRA guy in the summer that's driving around in June and July so there's a lot of trade show videos where they show the Arctic smashing against the block at different trade shows that's this one single plow that's this plow yeah over and over again how how many times would you say Spencer how many times would you say this plow has hit been hitting those blocks out there just at the trade show I'd see over a th times we pretty much just lift the plow back up up drop the center mboard hit a block and hit the wing at the same time and the wing so I'd say the center mboard at least is hit th000 now this one looks beat up that's because you're also when you're not smashing it against blocks at trade shows you're taking it out to a giant pile of snow under a tarp out there and just smashing it against that over and over and over again to see what will break yeah snow and Sal just you know in July it's hard to find snow so we're stacking a a big salt while the same test do you want to tell them you've twisted the frame three times Twisted the a frame a couple times but that's what we're here for right that's yeah yeah so one of the I I I put a video out there that this snow plow is based on Ancient technology okay because the snow Pusher that it's based on Lucas you and I and was it were you were there but yeah we the three of us rebuilt that one snow Pusher I thought it was closer to 30 years old but you're saying it's closer to 20 it's probably about 25 years old okay yeah the ld13 right yep yeah that was a lot fun yep Lucille uh so so this snowplow is actually based on tried and true technology but you finally mounted it to a truck so then you tested it for all those years then I got to show it and now you've continued the testing because you're taking out your own uh style mounting system and then that's what you've been beating on and as we look at this thing look at it he he's not very gentle on this that's not supposed to be bent like that that's not supposed to be B like that but if you have somebody intentionally ramming salt piles and curbs over and over and over and over and over and over again and hitting the wings on it I suppose something is about to break and that's what you're actually trying to find out yeah we want to find the failure points so you actually have a program out there this year where you have test people come and you're saying hey go I me you've had guys actually just try to destroy your snowpow do nothing but wreck guys that buy them themselves and like yeah I'm going to go wreck your snowfall yeah we're going to have over 20 of these prototype units uh they've been in the field this winter and you're getting okay and then so if you guys want to follow along you're going to see exactly how well this thing does Tim and Alex and I are going to be putting to the test and what do you want me to do to it you want me to baby it you want me to beat it you tell me cuz I'll do it use it how you want to use it yeah I mean cuz I can do it either way yeah be hard on it okay yeah I knew he'd say that I knew these I knew these boys would say that now we're also we're not just here for this snow P but did we cover everything with this snow plow no we didn't because you didn't talk about the programmable buttons you didn't talk about the fact that you got a joystick coming out and then you got two handheld remotes coming out right yeah we have a larger style handheld for people who don't like the smaller style and then we have a joyti stick and then I can't do it here right now but you can enter a programming mode with this so you could turn on things like soft stop or turn it off or you can turn on uh presets like double tap automatically just lifts the plow automatically does Wings you don't have to hold it right so you can do things like that and that's completely customizable and program programmable so if an operator wants to set it up the way he wants to do it he absolutely can and then it also has memory resets so if you have multiple operators they can actually each have their own controller set up is that right or am I wrong with that one working on that working on that did I just give something away I don't know I don't know maybe you should show them as well the actual pressure apply the down pressure yeah so you can you drop the p on the ground and then hold the the bottom button and it'll apply your down pressure yeah do that against so put it in float position once all right that's float and hold for down pressure and you can see the weight transferred from the truck onto the block all right hey Alex will we try to lift that son of a bit duck up to see how much down pressure is on that do you want to show it before and after yeah yeah all right put her put her in float all right so go ahead and try now all right put down pressure how much down pressure do you think you got I mean cuz it's but it's adjustable right so you can put whatever you want in there right yeah it's adjustable this one's set to about 700 PSI right now okay which was uh like about 6,000 lb of force on the front piston there so you're almost taking the weight that the plin adds off the front wheels at about this pressure now one of the concerns has been with some some guys is a lot of weight on the front of the truck okay um now on my F250 over there what I did is I put in heavier Duty coils and new shocks but I just wanted to do that yeah but you you particularly came up with a balance kit do you have it on any of your trucks uh my brother on the back oh there we go so he he wanted this to be in complete spec yeah right it's all about balancing the truck out any plow you put on it's going to pretty much overweight your front axle um unless you have like a 550 or something so you just got to put the weight in the back B it right to counteract it but you don't need to do this don't need to you don't need this is an optional thing so look if you check the owner's manuals of other manufacturers plows it will go in and talk about the recommended amount of counterbalance you need to put in the bed of the truck because when you're running around with no weight in the B of the truck and a plow on the front is probably going to be overweight so you technically need to have counterweight if you want your axle to be under that you know manufacturer prescribed qbw rating okay so like an empty Superduty rolls around I don't know like 50 320 lb in the front axle you put an 800 lb snow plow on it you're overweight so if you read in the owner manuals of these other manufacturers plows it says Hey for this plow you we recommend generally you know 700 lb of counterweight in the bet most guys are running spreaders and everything or other they're running around with salt we with razor back testing trucks and filming we don't need Salters and we don't need salt in bed the trucks so we created these to kind of do that for us and then we brought one to a trade show and people really like the idea so we said okay we we'll offer that to them and that puts it back in Factory spec yes basically what it's doing is you're you're putting a almost 1300 lb plow 1,200 some pounds on the front end of it and then instead of being out of balance now you're you're getting it back to Factory spec almost better than Factory spec it's in some trucks depending on how much of the weight you put on the back you can give even more to the rear and a thing I mean you'll drive it it floats down the road drives very balanced has a lot of traction you kind of don't really know it's there obviously you do but yeah just it just Smooths out the ride it is very smooth is that everything for this plow cuz wait there's more I'm not here just for the the new razor back but did we cover everything with this one I think so yeah think so I think so oh yeah okay okay there's a plow another plow we're picking up that's a specialty plow and I want to show you both of them so we're going to switch over to some snow plow action we're going to take this out in and plow some snow while my truck is getting outfitted um and then but let's go show these guys that uh that new specialty plow it's not new but it was custom built not for me but for another guy and it's a pretty clever idea so I wanted to show you guys this particularly but before we do that now my truck has what how much of a lift do you say my truck has on the front end 4 in a 4 in lift on the is there anything special you guys have to do to compensate for that because I'm not the only guy out there that has a higher lift in a truck yeah so your truck is running Western mounts on frame on my truck over here we actually have the adapter to go from the western style Mount cuz you know we started as Western guys and we…
