What happens here
To ensure proper weatherproofing, first install a rubber flashing boot. Slide the pre-formed boot over the vertical shaft of the post base and press it down firmly onto the base plate and surrounding structure, creating a watertight seal at the base. Next, apply a weather-resistant barrier, such as DuPont Tyvek Homewrap, over the entire area. Carefully cut a precise opening in the Tyvek Homewrap around the vertical shaft of the post base using a utility knife. Ensure the Tyvek overlaps the flashing boot correctly to shed water effectively. Smooth out the Tyvek and secure it, integrating the post base into the building's overall weather protection system.
Goal: Create a watertight seal and integrate the post base with the building's weather barrier.
