All that metal is code, but we like to add this scab to help keep our post/beam acting as one unit!

What happens here

Begin by using a tape measure to mark the desired position for the top of the horizontal wooden beam on the side of a vertical wooden post. In this demonstration, a measurement of 2.5 inches down from the top edge of the vertical post is used as a reference point. Ensure the horizontal beam will align properly with any existing brackets or structural elements.

Goal: The first step involves accurately measuring the placement for a horizontal wooden beam on a vertical post to ensure correct alignment and fit within the overall structure.
