1st Test Run of the Excavator & grapple

[Music] all right guys we're gonna go down to the yard fire up the grapple peel the back end of my truck out we've still got the plow frame in there we're gonna lift that out see what came in this bad boy today and hope that nothing breaks there's a little white hi you're getting so big yes you're getting so big who's a good dog yeah you gotta go inside you gotta go inside bye honey back end's jacked up front ends down low makes it look like i'm a shorty so our goal today is to get the frame peeled out of the back of my truck but also to warm the grapple up for the year [Music] so when we get down to the yard we find things aren't quite the way we want them to be whoo looks like we got a little cleanup to do down at the yard hmm we got a load of garbage we need to get the sure track out here trailer get that cleaned up go through that get that cleaned up i don't know man the yard gets bad sometimes what do we have here we have some animal what tracks are these raccoon i'm going to guess right it's got to be a raccoon got the little paws every day it comes in and out in and out we got a mess i think we'll come down here another day and fix that let's mess up but we got a machine we got to get running right here this is the one we need to get going for the season we use this one a lot not saying it's our favorite just saying we use it it's a daewoo solar solar solar 75v i don't think they still make these and if they did i wouldn't buy one it's true we got a bit of a mess looks like the boys rolled her hard and put her away wet up man at the end of the year it'd be nice if these guys are just going through and cleaning out the equipment i forget to tell them and i forget to check i get busy and look at what i found them what is this is what rex machines man all this dirt sitting down here what happens is the dirt holds moisture i don't need to tell you this but just in case some of you younger guys are wondering what the big deal about dirty equipment is [Music] it holds moisture so there was no dirt in here there went this moisture wouldn't be here and it wouldn't lead to this rust hard to even tell where the floor begins [Music] i'm gonna find a broken glass in there we break glass on this the machine at some point because i got i'm finding broken glass pieces in there underneath the mat did we replace a window or something on there i don't remember but i think somebody did at some point not much broken glass but this was on i mean this is the mat underneath the mat and you can see there's shards all throughout here we should have a policy where we at the end of the year we clean these machines out yeah we made that mistake on that excavator remember didn't the mice take it over mice took it over and ate all of the wiring not in that one but in the other one somebody put sunflower seeds in there or they left candy or anything anything any little smell get them to i don't remember you were on a sunflower seed kick remember for like an entire summer like it helps me not just not to chew i think that was it right that was it because you like saw the guy so tim saw some guy we were at a construction site do you remember this and he his bottom lip was gone he had a band-aid on it didn't he yeah he had like a big white band-aid on he could have had a work injury or something we don't know that it was chew i thought you found out it was true-related oh and i remember you getting super paranoid you guys said you and my brother said it was like yeah he's probably chewing i'm like oh baby cause timmy was chewing and then of course yeah we gotta we gotta put the fear here of anything health related cold did you still get the cold dude i got a cold so bad now nicki's got it is it attacking your joints or are you fine no man my neck i can't hardly turn my neck i can't hardly turn it and i need something better than that breaking down maybe it's kobe dude tested today she's going in to get tested because she feels like death and she's got the she's good these yetis are good is that a little warm what are you talking about you got a thing for cleaning out the degreasers or it's like a cylinder right you load a little grease in the one end then the other end sticks on there and you smack it with a hammer to clear out dessert because uses the pressure of the grease to blow it through the hammer hit i have never heard of that i can't find the freaking thing so i was hoping maybe you had it no i've never used it all right i've never seen one so [Laughter] you know i was looking at this cab you guys what's up with all of these air deflectors behind the seat what the man why it's got more air deflectors and it's got power if it had ac that would be really nice but it doesn't so it just those air deflectors blow hot air at you the heat is nice then i want to have alex go through before the season starts and pop pop these crappy ones off because these are getting kind of you can see through that one and this one and kind of check these other ones shift them around use all the good ones just replace some of the bad ones on here but i mean we used to put remember we put salt on this trailer before back in the day salt and sand i don't know if this trailer's ever really been washed remember when we uh remember when you you tipped an excavator off of it i flipped the entire trailer upside down connected to the excavator it was still connected on the road yeah it was chained down nice and yeah oh yeah i know it was the weight plate kick kept going that was crazy to see that that was on that was on the freightliner it was nuts man i'll show these guys what snap i don't remember if it was this that snapped i have no idea what happened this one needs replacing it's got to be replaced yep it's got to be replaced that's not a question okay that one that gets replaced [Music] we're gonna next we're gonna put the grapple through its paces just to make sure that it's ready for the season so the best place to do it is just to go through our debris piles and get those organized because that's got to get hauled out but unfortunately we can't put everything into one big chunk and haul it all the way it's all got to be sorted and because it goes to different areas so the stuff that's pure debris goes in one pile the stuff that's organic based goes in a different pile and the stuff that's just dirt gets separated out and we'll talk about why we have to do that in just a minute are these all junk tarps or what um [Music] so if you look where tim's running right now the actual grapple runs off the two top buttons on the top of his joystick so right where he's got his thumbs that controls the spinning and the opening and closing of the grapple [Music] we were just talking about the difference between a tilt rotator and a gravel i've never used a tilt rotator but i'm sure it has its applications but this one you can still move dirt with and pick stuff up and build boulder walls with it so i don't know i the rotator is probably going to move more dirt right if that's what you're looking to do i guess a matter of whether you want to move dirt or you want what your job is guys are trying to build boulder walls with them or like i don't i don't think you could i mean i guess it's got a little they got little tiny pinchers on the back some tilt rotators yeah i said you probably pick stuff up but you can pick like pipes and stuff but you can't really grab like a boulder rotated 360 and shove it into a crevice and make it fit right with them unless you're really good with it i mean if all you were doing was digging you know that's it it was all you were doing was digging in the dirt i can see that but like what we do this this is it right there demo and dirt and kind of everything i think i've still got more time in that cabelco building bolder walls with the permanent thumb than i do with this grapple so i mean we used to do that all the time you can drop it on the ground line it up spin it drop it back on the ground spin it or you get it up there and you kind of just use a tooth to twist the block and pop it in place pop it if you can make it work you can make anything work man you can make anything work but then with this one just oh yeah that's yup they're they're slick maybe along the edge here we got some organic thicker organics they don't like to see that stuff they don't like to see the plastic they actually when you have a nasty load of dirt they want to see it to be a nasty load of dirt and not mixed with garbage yeah they don't want a bunch of stuff i mean the ammo as long as it'll support the ground and driving on it you know they don't want a bunch of rotten stuff rotting out to make sinkholes all right then after that i got the truck lined up we'll pick the frame of the plow out [Music] so everything that's not pure dirt has to come out of the dirt and that includes roots sticks concrete blocks debris everything has to be sorted and cleared out of it so to be able to make sure that we got good clean dirt we actually have to sift through the whole pile and just look for all of the stuff that just doesn't belong uh [Music] is [Music] you know he did that i was looking right at him i was looking right at him you know he did that oh yeah one time he was on a dozer and he was driving by and i was coming the other way on a different dozer so we were going past each other he picked a little rock off from the top of his dozer as he was driving by and flicked it at me and it went right into the front of my tooth crack [Music] so now i get to do all sorts of crap to them all sorts of crap and i just say remember when you hit me in the tooth with the rock i got my get out of jail free card there was no point to this we were just having fun [Music] ah man there's a sloppy mess down at our yard today and i uh i need some new boots i think if you guys got any suggestions on boots you like like that it's a good guy the best straps on the market right here let's open them up and show them case these guys haven't seen the dog strap before best straps hey grab one of them old ones right there let's just show these guys the difference the key these honestly are the best strips the key is in the webbing itself it's got a different kind of webbing than your standard webbing it doesn't fray as much this thing right here takes all of the vibration out of the strap so when you go down it stays as tight when you tighten it up when you leave is when you get there that's not stretching or anything like that dude it's the best strap i have we've there really is no comparison to these straps on the market and you can take that to the bank [Music] kind of one of the funny things that happened if you guys weren't following along or knew what happened was we got our trailers stolen but before they stole our trailer they went through the trailer next to it and stole all of the straps all of the shock straps they left us all of our other straps open up your teeth a little bit so this is the framework for my back plow which is a snow power and it's connected right into the fifth rail system of the truck and we've got to pound out the four pins and then carefully lift it up back and out all right go ahead it's not tied but go ahead and see it's one way to do it yeah it just came off see there's nothing hooked hold on just leave it don't move [Music] there you go start kind of just nice and easy there you go okay you want to back it away from your truck there a little bit there you go [Music] so we got the grapple warmed up and we know that that's ready to go but we've got a lot more work done at the yard in general we're going to come back down here and clear this whole mess out and then re-grade our parking area [Music] all right you guys well we got the plow out of the back of the truck we got some stuff ready to go down to the dump then we got the excavator warmed up for the first time and how long has it been sitting six months tim [Music] maybe maybe four thing in december oh december okay so three months three and a half in that one yeah all right all
