Change of Plans- demolition turns into Construction

well good morning guys or evening or afternoon or whatever time of day it may be for you we got an interesting day ahead but not the kind of day we were expecting to have by any means want another one like to introduce you to call the crippled crow and i'll tell you a little bit more about why this girl is hanging out in my office eating chips over my shoulder he's gonna ride along today for the video spicy one cause actually not a pet crow call is a wild crow and claw is not a captive crow claw came to me and i know that's going to sound a little bit odd but it's 100 true i think i'll tell you that story at the end of this video [Music] um [Music] good morning you guys we got a little monkey wrench thrown in our plans today we're supposed to head north and deconstruct a retaining wall the ones that are in front of my cabin because they're starting to rot out the front part of my house because the high water level which is only supposed to rise once every 50 years has come up twice in the last five years and so i've got to tear literally apart the entire front of my cabin to rebuild it but to get at it i've got to remove all of the landscaping and that's supposed to be our plan today but we've had a few monkey wrenches thrown into the works i'm also supposed to haul a bunch of materials up north for frankie truck trailers already but the materialist didn't come in until just a few minutes ago it's hopefully going to try to already have the trailer loaded up before i left this morning so we got to go get materials before we can get on to tearing apart a retaining wall so let's just do that right now and then hike up north hop in the asv and tear apart a boulder retaining [Music] so this is kind of an interesting side note i'm glad i brought the wife along with because i asked the guy on the forklift to help me unload it but he refused to be on camera so he wouldn't get out of his forklift not dropping so my wife who has a bum back and just got injections in it had to be my helper and i don't blame him if he doesn't want to be on camera but he had his pant down face mask all the way up and glasses on what am i gonna see what are you gonna is anybody gonna see nothing it didn't make any sense thankfully she was there one tree i got more over the front was my thought but i don't know if i did that right i guess we'll find out when we're going down the road at 50 miles an hour [Music] one tree oh we've got some openings we're going to be doing today too we got two for the waha the wall is growing [Music] all right guys the next thing we need is a set of forks we've got the lumber all loaded up but they're in here so we're going to be moving all this to get at that i'm gonna grab these forks bring them up i'm north try to carry him over no i'm just gonna get everything out of that let's see quiet but i'm gonna grab and bring them up north we've got either forks down at the yard right there might be i don't know if you got us kids down there to lift forks or anything though well no i mean i don't need them i just want to steal forks i'm going to leave the i'm going to leave them up north i mean they're kind of janky we don't really i don't think use those for anything anyway no those are yours dude that's what i thought yeah those are i don't even know gt i don't even know if you if we own for maybe through boom ah perfect world i was just gonna drop my tailgate down throw the forks on and be on the road what are you smiling about easier to take the tailgate off drop the trailer i don't know hey wait yeah i know i wasn't gonna because i don't have a key to the shop you got a key to the shop i got a key to the shop i just dropped mine at my house in case i need to but can you open on your way home can you open up the shop and then i'll go drop this off sweet that was a nice coincidence would be better get in the truck hey lucy come come damn dog some people start lucy come now let's see come come that effing dog here's the deal with this dog when she wants to go she'll go whenever she feels like it that's a hound dog for you tim just got a hot dog pop they do what they want to do on their time man got a little lab in them so that might help them calm them down a bit maybe listen uh people pleasing you know labs kind of want to be people pleasers oh that's a good girl lucy good job glad somebody thinks so yeah i quit doing that when she was like eight months old you're something lucy you gonna look at me nope nope so while i was editing this video sam showed up and needed a little bit of help and i left the camera running to see what the crow would do [Music] so you might be wondering how the heck i got this crow in the first place and i'll tell you that full story at the end of the video but you're probably noticing that it has a bum flapper well cost somehow managed to break its wing when it was out living in the wild and i brought it to a number of rehab facilities and they all told me the same thing just kill it but i'm not going to kill this animal it's got its family in my backyard it's depending on me for its survival and i'm not gonna let it down [Music] so crows and ravens are actually a protected species they're part of the migratory birds that you're not allowed to keep in captivity they need to be able to migrate and that's why you're not able to have them as pets but i didn't take this bird as a pet this bird came to me [Music] so i'm not even sure if i'm allowed to have this bird into my house but i think this bird figured my house was the safest place for it to live while it healed its bum wing i think now i could be wrong but as soon as that wing is good it's gonna fly away i don't know that was pretty cool that um i knew you know that top-notch was given a percentage off but holy they're giving they're giving like fat discount which is pretty cool i like that hairy dude he's a good guy i'm kind of crazy isn't it that's why that's pretty wild wish i would have had that when i was buying loaders back in the day no oh god you gotta tell cassie this is her fault she's got another one for you actually i got it in the truck that'll be that'll be good so that'll make her mango and black tea mango and black tea it's actually good yeah it's good it's different but good see those those are like the things that work like two goofy flavors like that that sound disgusting that end up usually and then you add like carbonation to it and you make it cold and you're like this should be the worst thing ever but it works so i want to load up the forks and bring them up north because i'm going to use those to start to disassemble the boulder retaining wall that's down below my cabinet all right so for keeping score plow's off forks are in the back of the truck trailer's loaded it's been disconnected connected reconnected disconnected whatever you guys get it three times today and now we're finally ready to start heading north and it's about 12 30. and we got to hunt down the dog that tried to run away well you know guys as much as i was worried about that trailer going down the road if you take a look she's riding like a dream i just think it's my hitch is too high so i think my truck sits too high which puts the angle of the trailer funky which makes it automatically look a little bit out of balance so to correct that i need a drop down hitch and i don't have one on right now [Music] all right well we made it but we still got a big mess to clean up we got to put all the lumber right in that corner because we don't have anywhere else to go so before we can deconstruct the wall we need to get all this off from the trailer and guess who doesn't run away now gets up here and she's just like a little angel how much do you think that load of lumber cost if you wanted to guess 2500 you'd be pretty close it was a pallet full of uh plywood and well you can see how much you can see all the rest of it on the trailer right there prices of everything has just gone sky high [Music] in the ignition in the ignition yep how come i don't believe you because your cousin probably had it and then probably put it back he had to do that well i came up here the key to the asv was missing i'm like i'm out of here my cousin had to have it now oh so he put it though so he put it in there okay you're telling me that it was in there right in the ignition i swear i hopped right in and went like this because frankie told me i don't know where it is i started it up all right well let's see if i can pull up this hill uh alex thinks i can i i uh put your covers on your plow controls and then tuck them up under your bumpers and get ripped off yeah yep i don't want low you guys think i can pull up that hill transports gt's in action or not gets alex's get some speed you'll get out of there he doesn't want to be proven wrong thank goodness frankie's got his winch wench lynch i always get that mixed up winch or wench i think wench is one of those i think it's a winch w-i-n-c-h 15 000 miles on those tires just no traction [Music] spicy sun chips are my favorite i think called the crippling pro likes them too [Music] i think lucy's supervising all right you guys want to see something cool actually that's a dumb question of course you do so this pile of freaking sawdust is all that's left of the cabin that was across the pond obviously not all the brush but from right about there on over that's all that's left all right boys we gotta hand the window off oh i'm trying to keep you lean minor hitch in our giddy up we gotta put on to window duty look at sam's face oh no i'm gonna cut it but i'm gonna get some sleeves sam myself and zach are inside i have always wanted anderson windows my whole life i know it sounds odd i've always wanted them i've been jealous i've always had cheap cheap bad windows i spoiled myself might as well be a butter knife never trust a man that doesn't have a knife or at least 50 pounds of random crap in the back of their truck attached to the frame [Music] no no no that's fine zach wants to lean out he volunteered didn't you i thought i heard you say yeah i want to do it stan i don't care you don't have to do it zach if you're not comfortable i don't care i can do it this is what you gotta do you gotta just hang out like this and help put it in oh that's fine are you comfortable doing this yeah are you sure you'll make less noise yeah yeah so that way you're only going in the one direction to be handed right out to it okay hold on stop let's start tilting it and pushing it out here we gotta have it all right we need a break so our scaffolding wouldn't reach all the way over in front of the window so we could all stand in front of it stan jump around and hang on we just didn't have enough scaffolding for to do it there you go okay bottom ain't in is it there you go there you go now all you got to do is use the spring bar and pry up the window [Music] okay [Music] are you getting comfy on the blue tarp couch i walk up and she's half asleep on the couch the dog won't run away when you get in the country but as soon as you get in the city she just goes and goes do the same thing i'll push that back over may have a little dilemma here why well if i if i'm going to take this wall these walls out so that we can strip them back and rebuild them the scaffolding is oh we can figure something out for that if frankie will like a-frame it off the house where did you get my plan was to start tearing into that retaining wall right away and i told sam i was gonna do that and he sounded like a whipped pup to be quite honest with you i think he had his heart set on going out and doing some forest re-mulching so you know what why don't we just go do some forestry mulching and then tomorrow we can start fresh on tearing apart that retaining wall sounds like a good plan to me let's see if he's up for it you want to do some mulching yeah yeah i don't know maybe it's up to you i could go either way oh because i kind of want to tear in the wall with you what about you mulch and okay that's just the kind of day i'm having today man you are too yeah yeah where are you going alex [Laughter] same time hey have you seen my dog you want to bet she's laying down somewhere you're better she's five miles away i'll bet you she's laying down somewhere we're up north if if when we're up north she doesn't go when we go in the cities she runs and doesn't turn around that's how it goes with those hounds in the city you open that door and they're six blocks away before you can oh god the worst city dog i've ever had best country dog i've ever had yeah they're not supposed to be in the city of town nope i bet she's inside the upper house i bet she because i think i went in there to grab something and she's like following me lucy oh holy crap okay [Music] i don't mind her running she's ran here for her entire life but with the ice going out herself in trouble you guys haven't seen lucy right oh okay [Music] where'd she come from i [Music] sam what do you think about us just tearing into that wall manana what does that mean tomorrow yeah that's cool with me all right because then we can get a fresh start and we'll probably want to get her probably do a better job that'll give me time to pick all the eggs out of here oh there's one right there now give me time to find some more boulders and to try to figure out how high i want to go with this next wall because i want to peel it off i want to see what it's like maybe i can do some of the removals there see this is what we're on we're going to do like uh are you putting the wall back in here though you're doing like dude that's right oh sorry sam um yeah okay it's been a day you've had a day i've added let's start a new day we're never we're never up here where it's like oh let's just take the you know take the date and just chill and hang out and all that kind of stuff we're always like go go go go go go go sam's not wrong we're the dogs out in the lake over here uncle tom says the middle it was two feet he said you could sink the auger all the way down to where that was yeah so is that about two feet a little more gonna have a bit of a fire tonight guys well get some of that frozen stuff up yeah you know get the leaves off of it anyways yeah come on oh uncle tom put some maple jugs up yeah one's full of water unless that's maple syrup no is it what that's that's that's well it's me it's that syrup and that was south it's until they boil it down that but that's what it is that's sap coming out this would be a different color see yeah that means this is close by you can see there's the tube yeah they pound it into the tree and then they it goes into the tub right there can you fill up and then they once it starts warming up they'll they'll fill up you'll have to empty these every day hold it come on can i taste it you think it's just it's a sap i just want to taste this yeah it's just sap oh no then we'll fill up every day what every day you'll have to drain them because when it starts running once it starts warming up they'll run that fast they'll run that hard really yep yep you'll have to drain them every day that's when i was helping them that's we we'd have to check them every single day but now you've got chris helping him so he doesn't need you know that is oddly refreshing actually it doesn't taste like sap at all but that's what it is and then they boil it down to does it put that you know yeah isn't it like i don't know eight to one or twelve that's why they have whole farms of just maple syrup trees yeah well yeah but uh yeah i mean then some guys got big cookers and you know if they have to heat it up or whatever that clay that you guys got them picks from he's got a pop pot probably the size of i don't know it's gotta be about like this he boils his donut really yeah how much does he make does he sell it or something no wow yeah he does not as bad as my new pop that dog will he'll go outside drop one turn around let it go oh what's this sniff it and eat it before you can do it and then in the morning she wakes you up by giving you a kiss jumps up on the bed and gives you a kiss worst smelling breath i've ever smelled every dog's dead dog has got the just she permanently reeks for a puppy that's just the worst i don't know what makes a dog want to do that got it look at him though all right you guys see what's in the box and i promised you a story about this bird and i told you that this bird is a wild bird and it is but that's not 100 true so last year in the spring i was putting food out for the squirrels and a pair of crows came and started feeding from the feeder and i freaking love crows i think they're one of the most amazing animals in the world so i fed them peanuts i fed them dog food fed them anything and everything that they wanted to eat the squirrels were eating and i had blue jays i had all sorts of cool animals coming and then all of a sudden the two crows that were coming to the feeder turned into five and i realized that they had three babies and i'd sit out on the back deck and the mama crow and the daddy crow would fly right over my head and their babies would come down and they would fly and these guys could barely fly and they'd land in front of me and take off again and the whole family was just hanging out just right in front of me but as birds do they grow up and they fly further and further and further away and pretty soon this crow family became less and less to the feeder and then one day as i was working up in the office i look outside and i see all five crows in the yard and i'm like whoa they've been gone for almost two months why are they back but they're not just in the trees they're on the ground all five i'm like that's really odd are they eating something or what's going on but busy working paid no attention to it went about my day day turns into night i walk outside and i walk from my house to my barn and here's this crow hopping alongside me now crows are super skittish you can't look them in the eye because it kind of freaks them out so i didn't so i just walked to the barn keeping my head straight up have just kind of looking at my peripheral going that's weird crow's following me go to the barn turn around come back the bird follows me all the way up the hill all the way to my house and finally i'm like screw it you're following me i'm not chasing you i turn and i look and i see this bird with bat wing just he can't lift it up he doesn't have any control over it and he's following me along and i'm like oh man walk over pick him up carry him into the house i set him on the table and as soon as i set him on the table he hangs out with me he looks around because you know he doesn't like to be picked up this bird still doesn't like to be picked up looks around and sees my parents cage gracie now i have a cage that i keep outside for my parrot all summer long these crows are used to seeing it this crow hop hop hop over to the cage into the cage by itself not kidding so i'm like oh shoot i think we got a new visitor for a while my wife's like i don't want that crow in the house it's dirty it's messy and i'm like all right well i'll move the cage upstairs so i move the cage and you can actually see it right here i move the cage upstairs crow doesn't want to be upstairs the crow wants to be downstairs it wants to be in the window and it wants to look out my bait my main windows right where i'm feeding all of the other birds hops out of the cage slides underneath my railing and flies down and lands on my grandson's basketball hoop and that's where it lives it decided to take over that vest but no matter where i put the bird it would go back to the basketball in fact if you look earlier in this video as i was walking out of the house you can see this crow hanging out with lucy next to the basketball now you would think lucy and baby and the two cats that live in the house would bite this bird…
