Apply plumber's putty or silicone sealant
Part of project
Kitchen Faucet Replacement · Step 7 of 13
In this video
With the underside of the faucet's base plate accessible, put on a pair of gloves. Take a generous amount of plumber's putty and knead it to soften it. Press the putty firmly into the recessed channel on the underside of the base plate. Continue adding and spreading the putty evenly around the entire perimeter of the plate, ensuring the channel is completely filled. The putty should be level with or slightly above the edge of the gasket to ensure it creates a tight seal when compressed.
