After preparing all the timber, allow it to rest for two days. This resting period helps the wood stabilize before permanent installation. Then, install the top landing. Begin by marking the position of the staircase at the installation site using a laser level and measuring tape for accuracy. Ensure the exposed sill, called 'kamachi', which was previously installed with the second floor, is properly aligned. Add an additional kamachi made from pine, matching the step size, to the front of the landing. The landing floor will use the same flooring as the second floor. Secure all components using screws and a drill.
