Step 2 · Remove the Shower Diverter Handles

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Carefully remove the handles from your diverter valve. Begin by removing any decorative caps or index buttons (often using a small flathead screwdriver or putty knife). Then, locate and unscrew the handle screws, using the appropriate screwdriver (Phillips or flathead). Gently pull off the handles.
