Step 2 · Seal Air Leaks Near Pipes: Stop Cold Air Infiltration

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Seal air leaks around pipes where they enter your home. Use caulk or expanding foam sealant to create an airtight seal and prevent cold air from reaching the pipes. Pay close attention to areas around sill plates and exterior wall penetrations. Carefully inspect your home for air penetrations near pipes.
