Step 1 · Insulate Exposed Pipes: Prevent Freezing Temperatures
This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.
Insulate exposed pipes, particularly those in unheated areas like crawl spaces, attics, and exterior walls. Use pipe insulation sleeves, foam insulation (consider thicker walls for superior protection), or heat tape. For best results, miter insulation around elbows and corners for a complete seal. Remember to measure your pipe diameter accurately before cutting insulation to size.
