Step 2 · Visually Inspect and Clear Disposal Chamber

With the power safely off, use a flashlight to look down into the garbage disposal's drain opening. Check for any visible obstructions like silverware, bones, fruit pits, or other hard objects that may have jammed the blades. If you see an obstruction, use a pair of tongs or pliers to carefully retrieve it. Never, under any circumstances, use your hand to reach into the disposal chamber.
