Step 3 · Remove the Old Disposal: Make Way for the New

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Carefully loosen and remove the mounting screws holding the disposal to the sink flange. Using a garbage disposal wrench or large flathead screwdriver, carefully lower the old unit and dispose of it properly.
